Hmm. That's one of the two or three places in that state I haven't been yet. I too hope a 5/9 recording pops up soon, as my sister was going to go to that show, but didn't make it.

Sure. I do, at least. When I pray, I pray for two things, generally - strength to face the challenges in my life without being an asshole about it and protection for the people I care about. And I express gratitude for my life, the day and the blessings which have been bestowed upon me, many of which I do not fully appreciate or even deserve, really. -

My own personal belief in God goes back as far as I can remember and was first planted at an Episcopalian church, also in Poughkeepsie. This might sound like a cop-out, but I don't think humans have the capacity to fully understand God - maybe some very advanced people had or have this ability - I don't know. From about the age of 12 to the age of 22, I really, really tried to not believe in God, honest I did, embracing for a time every atheistic argument there is, from the complete lack of rationality one to the hypocrisy of its believers one. As I got older and got to know myself better emot -

1. Mere Christianity and The Screwtape Letters are both great books which have helped me to come to grips with my belief in God and Christ and its implications for the future of my eternal soul. I recommend them to anyone. 2. If a supernatural agent really told bin Laden to carry out 9/11, et. al., I would bet that supernatural agent was not God. 3. Also written in the Bjorn Book is: "God is perfect; man is not. Religion is a creation of man - our attempt to understand and link back to an entity, a reality that very few of us are equipped to understand very well. Religions vary widely in q -

Survey Shows U.S. Religious Tolerance By NEELA BANERJEE Although a majority of Americans say religion is very important to them, nearly three-quarters of them say they believe that many faiths besides their own can lead to salvation, according to a survey by the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life. The report, the U.S. Religious Landscape Survey, reveals a broad trend toward tolerance and an ability among many Americans to hold beliefs that might contradict the doctrines of their professed faiths. For example, 70 percent of Americans affiliated with a religion or denomination said they

Yeah - it seems to me that EU is a natural progression from the broadening of scope which we heard on Z. I like EU - it draws on a lot of different styles and attempts some interesting things, not all of which work, but most do.

There was just enough of the essay on the web to remind of this incident. The former vicar of the nice Episcopalian church up the road from me brought a shit rain down upon himself back in 1991 when, either just before or just after the First Gulf War started, he delivered a sermon basically saying it was un-Christian to advocate or participate in war and God was a higher authority than the president. To illustrate his point, he took down the U.S. flag to the right of the altar, folded it up and placed it under the altar. Shit. Rain. A lot of people could not get their heads around it, and mos
