God, I love Ingrid Bergman. She was not, however, in Mongol, which we saw Friday night. A pretty good movie from the director of Prisoner of the Mountains about the rather stressful early life and rise to power of Temujin, later Genghis Khan. BEAUTIFUL photography. I guess it's the first in a trilogy. I was struck by the similarity of the Mongols to Native Americans, which makes sense because they are cousins.

There was a headline once where a clueless copy editor came up with "Atomic Bombers Upset Over Enola Homosexual Exhibit."

I have said it before and I'll say it again - if there was a draft, people would be a lot more interested in this war. -
It just makes it harder to read, and thus a little more annoying.

No, because Jesus looks like Billy Preston.

Not hard to argue that Iraq is evil via incompetence, in which we all share a small part. -
Report: U.S. 'preparing the battlefield' in Iran
bjorn_skurj replied to Good Old Neon's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Iran has three times as many people as Iraq. Occupying them with an all-volunteer army is a non-starter - we would need an f-ton of more troops, the kind of numbers only a draft would provide. I can see us and Israel combining on airstrikes and limited incursions, not to mention a naval battle for control of the Persian Gulf. It could be that the plan is to seriously degrade Iran's military capability while we still have all the infrastructure right next door and before a new president takes office. Iran would probably not take it lying down - the Iran-Iraq war was a really awful affair resemb -
I liked parts of it. Billy Preston kicked ass, I cannot help but crack up at the Mighty Mouse thing and I got a good laugh out of the triple-blade parody-becomes-reality commercial. I was also struck by how much it took from Monty Python.

My parents were young and idealistic. I think they thought that if I had easy access to Playboy (not Penthouse, though; my dad always hid those) I wouldn't be fascinated by its taboo. -

Plus, Iran wants to be the dominant power in the Mideast, and needs nukes to do so to counterbalance U.S. power. I don't really believe the people in charge of Iran are so crazy to actually USE nukes on Israel, but if you're Israel, you can't assume that. So, it's a bad scene all around. I foresee diplomacy making a big comeback. -

The Iraq invasion, specifically the dramatic difference between how nukeless Iraq and nuked-up North Korea were handled, plays a part in this as well. After Iraq, I would not blame any nation on the outs with Los Estados Unidos one little bit for trying to get nukes. -

Sorry, but I do not blame Israel one little bit for doing whatever it can to deny Iran nuclear weapons. -

Me too! It all started when I saw Playboy pictorial of an alien chick with big boobs kidnapping a hippie dude and mating with him. (Based on a true story.) -

For some reason, a lot of grownups can't accept that teenagers want to have sex.
