  1. I wish I could go back in time and change my high school yearbook picture to this:
  2. Gee, you would have thought Dallas won the Super Bowl last year or something. ZZZZZZZZZZ.
  3. Losing? Dude, you should come work here. My sympathies have always been leftist, but I DESPISE the dourness of many liberals around here and find myself moving rightward because they are so sancti-FUCKING-monious.
  4. They are to be slaughtered and the meat distributed to poor people in Liege, I am told.
  5. A little clarity about the future, maybe, and enhanced peace of mind.
  6. I propose raising the mound three inches.
  7. Global warming will be a boon to the Netherlands' well-developed dike industry.
  8. I like Saranac, but in the Hudson Valley, at least, it is not as cheap as it once was.
  9. I can't speak for the writer but I think he was trying to espouse the theory that if people were worked to the point of exhaustion seven days a week, they would be too focused on their own misery to protest effectively and that the relative abundance of leisure time many of us enjoy allows us to develop sophisticated political theories like those debated on this board. I was then trying to elliptically point out that people thus treated sometimes take up arms against their oppressors, heading right past liberalism into insurrectionism.
  10. Well, people who can't afford to be liberal sometimes become revolutionary.
  11. I think JUDE is right about the continuing demand-growth for oil keeping prices generally trending upward. There may be fluctuations and many suspect the price will go down in a hurry if alternative energy starts approaching oil in (relative) affordability, but I would feel safe investing in oil companies.
  12. I am glad no Mets are in this thing. Participating in '06's messed up Wright's home run stroke for the rest of the year.
  13. You just can't legislate a pedestrian/mass transit-friendly world into being, at least not in this country. If gas prices stay high, people will start to demand such things and they may get listened to, unless some great leap forward occurs in hybrids, thus saving suburbia.
  14. My econobeer of choice is Genesee Cream Ale. Made in Rochester or Utica.
  15. Serves 'em right for what did they did to Rolling Rock.
  16. Before or after the game? And doesn't he have enough money to buy his own base?
