  1. Yes. It did. Didn't make me very hopeful about that SEC title game...
  2. He told me to take a number. I told him I'd settle for his, and I've been sleeping over ever since. My avatar is a lot like his o face.
  3. Or just do a smaller-scale "bailout" of the employee's health benefits while letting the company go bankrupt.
  4. I think Tech v. Florida would be better, just because Alabama doesn't score many points. Unless their defense could stop TT. But after last week, letting a pathetic LSU offense score, I'm not sure they could do that.
  5. Tech squeaked out a win against a pathetic Nebraska team, too. Not many teams play their best game every game. And I don't think you can punish the number one team for winning by a thin margin against a ranked opponent on the road. You punish them when they lose to Florida. And as for Georgia over Ohio State, I think it is something they call strength of schedule. A big component of the BCS. EDIT: Apparently strength of schedule is not a BCS component at all. Who knew?
  6. Why would Alabama be jumped for beating the number 15 team in the country? Texas Tech is playing well, obviously, but Oklahoma State has played exactly one good team all year before Saturday in Texas. When they beat Oklahoma, we'll talk. And if Alabama beats Florida, we'll talk again. But right now, I don't see either of those things happening.
  7. That was the first time in my life, I think, that I've rooted for Iowa. And boy did Alabama play like crap. They won, thank god, but yikes. If LSU had even a half of a quarterback, they would likely win that game.
  8. I have to believe that the whole "taxes are bad" thing comes from the fact that the American people have never a tax system that really works for them. It is easy to hate on taxes when they take away all of your money and you still have to drive down shitty roads to get your kids to shitty schools or whatever else. We shoot shuttles into space but don't give kids health care.
  9. He never said that. Your cartoon strip was suggesting something that is certifiably not true, and he was just making sure you were aware. There are plenty of idiots on both sides, but the higher the education level, the more likely a person is to vote Democratic.
  10. It always does. At least the southern half. This year is particularly bad over there, though. And the SEC does the same thing. Too bad their both stuck dealing with the BCS.
  11. Tonight begins what looks to be another wacky November. Penn State plays in the worst major conference in football. I see them finishing an undefeated #1. Alabama will lose to either LSU or Florida, but I'd love it if they didn't. Texas Tech has a tough road, as was mentioned. I hate to say it, but I think it might be hard for Florida, the way they are playing, not to get a crack at the title. Great game tonight, by the way. Easier for me to enjoy than a Texas fan, obviously, but it was pretty all over the place and down to the wire. Crabtree doesn't get tackled.
  12. I have heard Graham-level numbers somewhere, but I'm not sure where (over 200k, 20,000 more every year or something like that). For those interested, NPR also has an interview with Julian Koster (should be on the same page as the show stream) that adds a bit of fuel to the reunion fires. It's also a really interesting interview for other reasons. He sounds a bit like he's done too many drugs and a bit like he's got his shit a lot more together than the rest of us.
  13. John McCain would never hire a lawyer. Elitist snobs, all of them. He's getting Huck and Chuck to monitor election results for him.
  14. Wrong outcome, but good game. That damn safety. Jesus.
  15. Either that or he knows something we don't. I see three scenarios: 1 - He cheats. 2 - October surprise. 3 - Obama wins.
