  1. HEY! I haven't been around for a while cause I've got a new job and am working close to 55 hours a week. But tonight I'm gonna have some free time and am planning on watching the Ratdog stream from All Good on Iclips at 10 eastern, if anyone feels like watching i'll be here.

Also if anyone can recommend some 69 and 72 shows id appreciate it.

  2. not off hand, sorry! i know one that gets a lot of hype is a san jose 98 soundboard show. the quality is ridiculously good. other than that, i'm not sure.

I love this time period. Although I'd say you want 2000-2004, shoot me an email and ill send you some shows.

  3. so can't say I was ever a fan of the song "Easy Answers" but that changed yesterday. I got a copy of Rob Wasserman's Trio's album (also features branford, hornsby and jerry) and there is a cut of Weir doing "Easy Answers" with Wasserman and Neil Young. Its a dam shame they didn't record more together.

  4. You might want to narrow down your question a bit. SF has arguably the best collection of restaurants of any city in the US - certainly in the top 3. All ethnicities, all price ranges, styles, etc. etc. etc. What kind of restaurant/food are you interested in?

That being said - if it's your first time there, you can't go wrong with a bowl of chowder or cippolini and a hunk of sourdough.

When I was there I went to the stinking rose, an all garlic restaurant so if you like garlic.

I also wen to All You Kneed ( i believe that was the name) in the haight

  6. Its funny how wrong a first impression can be. When I herd "I'll fight, I'll kill, etc." I only herd the call to duty and immediately assumed that the one waking in the middle of the night was the dying soldiers lover not someone whose place on the front lines had been taken by a volunteer. And I herd the place to be surrounded by your peers as a military cemetery. I won't be surprised if many interpret it that way.

Thanks for helping me see past my initial assumptions.

  7. I haven't gotten to read the lyrics, which a lot of times solidifies my idea of a song. When just listening over and over, parts creep in kind of like osmosis. The song never struck me as literal. I always thought of it as a kind of melodramatic devotion to one person. The Jesus imagery is borrowed to give a kind of hyperbolic weight to the idea. Leonard Cohen has done the same thing with Christian imagery, borrowed it for personal psychology, romance etc.

I don't mind the christian imagery, its everywhere in our culture. What bothers me is the pro-war nature of the song in a time where we don't need people stepping up to say "i'll fight".

  8. Great lyrics. I love the imagery & the story. one of the things I love about this album is in a few songs (this one and Bull Black Nova) Jeff wrote from a different perspective than his own.

I still think Conscript may have been a better title, though.

This is what I was getting at. Jeff did a lot of Bush bashing the past eight years, I just thought it was weird fo him to write a war song while alluding to jesus.

  9. If this sounds like a dumb question forgive me I know nothing about receivers.

I have a record player with a red and white rca output and I have two sbl-75 technics speakers with wire out puts that clip in, on the back it says 150watt input. Anybody know what kind of receiver I'd need.

  10. I think the management site's changes could say a lot.

And again, I doubt that any music news site is going to publish this story now. It's a holiday weekend. And it's a very young rumor/development.

    Sadly, I think you're right.

  11. If its true, my thoughts go out to anyone close to Jay that might be reading this. His music meant a lot to a lot of us. Weather or not he left on good terms Wilco just wouldn't be Wilco without his contributions. Peace, Jay.
