  1. It's all I can think about. All over again. In fact, I told my dead sister all about it yesterday.
  2. Then you can send them to me to store. It can be like This Wheel's On Fire. We can all sign the box after we've stored it.
  3. OK. So I have been listening to the White Album for about a hundred years and just now listening to I Will, thought, "Omg. Paul is singing the bass part!" I never noticed before. Christ.
  4. Yep. Which is a big reason I listened to Let It Be...Naked only once.
  5. Sarah and I listened to Funeral this past weekend while photographing an old abandoned warehouse area of the city. It was gorgeously apropos. Sarah said,"I would see them live again. Anytime. Any place." That's my girl. Good to hear they're working on a new album. We were lamenting their relative disappearance over the last year or so.
  6. Seems Jon Stewart could easily eliminate those pesky middle men writers and just start lifting his material directly from the National Review. Also:
  7. Back in the day there was a local record reviewer, LeRoi. If he hated an LP it would get a "Fly Me" rating. Fortunately CDs can still rate a "Fly Me", which Is precisely what I did with Rebels. It was very satisfying.
  8. I broke one of my own rules and read comments before I listened and was prepared for the worst. I have actually been pleasantly surprised that in spite of the gloss and sap (seriously are you shocked by that? They have got to be some of the most charming saps writing music right now. ) the Avett quirkiness manages to shine right through the Rubin production. This Friday!!!!
  9. "Now hitting on all 16 cylinders, the Beatles bolted back to the woodshed for The Beatles, a blandly designed masterwork that could inspire any reasonable citizen of California to launch a race war."
  10. I had a bit of a chuckle over that myself. And then I said, "Whaddya want for nuthin'?"
  11. I gots no problem whatsoever with this album.
  12. The word that keeps coming into my mind is 'crunchy'. Nice piece, Chris. If Wilco is Beatlesque, it's John's lyrical bass lines which are the connecting thread.
  13. Yes! The one w/ Elf Power is fantastic. Bonus: his voice is vaguely Bowiesque. (Yummy rip for the headphones, Brian.)
  14. Yep it is. Trust me I'll be seeking his other stuff after hearing this.
  15. First time hearing Vic Chesnutt. Really dig it.
  16. I first heard Beatles when they appeared on Ed Sullivan in 1964. I was in second grade. The memory of that night is unusually clear. I remember what the adults in the room said about them. I remember feeling like something unfamiliar was happening to me. I played the grooves off these albums over the years. The magic of listening to Beatles has never ever lost that original luster. As records, they are peerless.
  17. He was one of those rare few that seemed to be channeling something otherworldly when he played. He has no peer. My daughter's dad was such a fan, we named her Sarah May in part to honor him.
