  1. The show was taped, have no fear. You maybe didn't see any mike stands because at least two tapers' mikes were suspended from above...
  2. Just remembering that Jeff gave a couple of Burlington shoutouts as well. He changed one of the "on a private beach in Michigan" lines in Spiders to something...in Burlington. And during Heavy Metal Drummer, he did the obligatory, "Playing Phish covers..." but then couldn't think of any other Burlington bands. I yelled out Death, which technically is a Detroit band but they live in Burlington now so I thought that was appropriate, and Jeff took that suggestion. Then he pointed out how the crowd couldn't really think of any other Burlington bands either, so he started making up names like Pro
  3. No prob. I'm impressed that you can tweet almost every song. I'm not deft enough on the ol' mobile. I thought it was a very, very fun show. Jeff seemed to be in a great mood; as someone near me put it, he was just "feisty" enough to deal with an at-times rowdy crowd and yet comfortable enough to indulge several impromptu requests (Forget the Flowers and We've Been Had, to name two). Great to see Mike come out and play a couple of songs as well, though Theologians was -- shall we say -- a bit loose? Incidentally, I think Pronto made at least a few converts with their all-too-brief 30-mi
  4. You got all the songs, I think, but a couple were out of order... Here you go: Via Chicago (w/harmonica) Remember The Mountain Bed Spiders (Kidsmoke) Everlasting Everything Solitaire The Ruling Class I Wanna Be Your Dog [The Stooges] Forget the Flowers Summer Teeth One By One Simple Twist of Fate [bob Dylan] Bob Dylan's 49th Beard Jesus, etc. Nothing'severgonnastandinmyway(again) Heavy Metal Drummer ---------------------------- Airline to Heaven A Shot in the Arm Muzzle of Bees We've Been Had I'm The Man Who Loves You ----------------------------- Hummingbird [w/Mikael Jorgensen on keybo
  5. He pretty much sticks to "A.C. Newman" material, from my experience. Especially since he's promoting a new record. Usually he doesn't even do New Pornographers' stuff, though at the Brooklyn show last fall, he did do a solo acoustic version of "The Fake Headlines" as a second encore. But I think that was fairly unusual.
  6. God willing, I will be there. (I thought I told you that.) Anyway, I'm bummed about the time slot because I was hopin' for some Sweet Baby James.
  7. The High Road Touring site says Saturday, fwiw.
  8. Looks like Jazz Fest just announced their time slots. Not exactly a surprise, but it appears that Wilco is scheduled from 5:30-7 on the Gentilly stage (maybe the second-biggest stage?). They're playing at essentially the same time as, among others, James Taylor and Erykah Badu. Full schedule here.
  9. I didn't realize Nicole was touring with him either, but that's cool that you guys got to see her! She definitely adds another element to the Get Guilty stuff, even if I'm not as big a fan of it as some of Carl's other work. I saw the first show for this record way back in November in Brooklyn and Nicole was there too. Hopefully she'll be there this weekend when they're back here.
  10. Probably drink it, since beers cost virtually nothing there.
  11. How awesome would it be if all 108 people eventually posted in this thread? Anyway, I'm still waiting for my copy but will chime in when it (hopefully) arrives.
  12. Some other folks around here certainly know more than I do, but I believe the DRM record is being/has been completed and is coming out fairly soon!
  13. Pretty similar setlist to the NYC show I saw a few weeks back, but awesome that Zooey, Gillian and Dave all came out to sing/play! Lucky LA peeps... Oh, and I believe the John Fahey tune is Bean Vine Blues #2.

    LeRoy Bach

He also had separate stints as a member of both Beth Orton and Sam Beam's touring bands.
  15. that's what i heard from several people on the way out as well. but maybe it was just all the pandering crowd-pleasers!
  16. yeah, it's a pretty interesting take (almost a duet with one of his backup singers). video here
  17. I suppose I could probably just have posted this in the thread in Someone Else's Song, but I feel more comfortable here in After The Show. Haha. So anyway, I just wanted to say that I went to this show last night (the second night of a two-night stand at the MSG Theater; there is also another two-night stand next weekend at the Beacon Theater) and was pleasantly surprised. It was my first time seeing Van Morrison, and I wasn't sure what to expect. I'd heard about his, ahem, stage manner over the years. Last night he only spoke to the audience once, I think, when he was having some guitar pro
  18. It should be said that opening for Pronto at the Mercury Lounge show on 3/19 is Puss 'n' Boots (a/k/a Norah Jones, Catherine Popper and Sasha Dobson). Probably a good chance they'll do "Jesus, etc.," I would think. Should be a fun night! Unfortunately I think that show is sold out. But definitely check out Pronto at Maxwell's, and elsewhere!
  19. It doesn't seem that way to me, but I certainly don't claim to be an expert on copyright law. There is a note on the copyright page that reads "All Rights Reserved. No part of this publication may be reproduced stored in a retrieval system, or transmitted in any form by any process
  20. Anybody want this ticket? Anybody, anybody? Give me 15 bucks, 10 even, and it's yours. Front-row seat.
  21. So did anyone else order this? I just got my copy the other day. Haven't had much time to do anything except flip through it so far, but it kind of seems like Mr. Luerssen did a LexisNexis search for Wilco stuff and then weeded through, picked out and compiled some of the more interesting (and occasionally not-so-interesting) pieces. I say this because I saw at least a couple of articles by Greg Kot that listed him as writing for the Bergen Record. A lot of time this is what happens with Lexis searches when one paper picks up something from another paper and lists the writer as being part
  22. Oh, don't worry. I didn't have any hopes. I was just poking a little fun.
  23. Not to hijack this thread, but... Froggie, man, you put me to shame. I joined here, what, six months before you did (well, let's not even get into the previous board before the crash) and you have more than seven times as many posts as I do. I defer to you, oh hallowed VC veteran!
  24. Does that mean Beck said that? Or you're named Beck? Or Beck's gonna be there!? (In which case, OMG!) (Sorry, don't mean to rain on your excitement. I'm trying to get to 1,000 posts... )
