It's sad to see so many independent record stores shutting their doors these days. I had never been to Atomic, but I ducked in last week when I was passing through Milwaukee and it seemed like a cool place. I think currently there's a 20 percent off everything sale through the end of the month and I saw that they're going to haul a bunch of other stuff out in January before they close for good. It sucks that for a lot of the stores that I've seen close in the last couple of years, they get way more business after they announce they're closing than they ever did while they were open. Seems

Actually, I don't think it was. Pretty sure Wendy had the right order since I was writing it down as we went. No biggie, but if we're being accurate...

sorry you had to miss the show. here was the setlist for wilco from philly (i assume that's the setlist you wanted since neil has pretty much been playing the same setlist for the whole tour): Via Chicago Impossible Germany You Are My Face> Spiders (Kidsmoke) Hummingbird Jesus, etc. Hate It Here Walken I'm The Man Who Loves You nothing too revolutionary, although i'm glad they put spiders in there. i couldn't really tell from where i was, but i sort of wondered about the reaction to that one from most of the crowd. nels kind of had a rough night. he broke a string twice, including d

I've got a spare ticket for the show in Baltimore this Sunday, Dec. 14. The seat is in the Orchestra section, Row L, Seat 125. I'm just looking to get back what I paid (or close to what I paid), which was $52.85. Send me a PM or e-mail me at paulsuwan@gmail.com if you're interested and we can work out the details. Thanks!

You probably mean bt.etree.org, right? And to answer the earlier question, shows usually end up on one of the typical torrent sites like bt.etree or Dime. Often, a taper will post a link in the appropriate "After The Show" thread here on VC.

The show was definitely taped, but it's considered good form to give tapers some time to work on their recordings before asking about them. Some put shows up remarkably quickly, but be patient. Give 'em at least a week before asking for stuff. I also meant to mention earlier that I'm pretty sure Pot Kettle Black and Hoodoo Voodoo were also on the printed setlist, but not played. Looked like Jeff audibled out of PKB after A Shot in the Arm, for whatever reason. And Hoodoo was listed as the closer, but they didn't wind up doing it. It was already well past 11 at that point, so they might have

Just before the show started, the crew welcomed Glenn back from his one-show hiatus in style by adorning his drum kit with a variety of brightly colored flowers (I saw some carnations and maybe hibiscus in there). And Jeff made several comments about how glad they were to have "the best drummer in the world" back and how he had skipped out on a rock show to play Carnegie Hall, etc. Sincere of course, but also sometimes delivered in a tone of giving Glenn shit which I think everyone enjoys. Seems like quite a few people made the trek up here for this one because I saw a number of familiar

Yeah, I doubt it unless someone was stealthing. They're pretty strict at Carnegie Hall in general, even though Zankel is supposed to be the more casual, avant garde space. No recording and definitely no photos (though I saw a few people snap some at the end when the ushers weren't as hawkish as usual), unfortunately.

sounds kinda like another guitar-drums duo we know and that we'll be seeing soon. glad you made it to the show, e!

That sounds like a fun set in Toronto...definitely memorable anyway. A question for anyone at the TO show: Did the line from "Passenger Side" ("Roll another number for the road") got any sort of special reaction from the Neil crowd? I went to the Kronos show here in NYC, and Glenn seemed to be in fine health. I think he'll be just fine for the Rochester show on Saturday night. He joined Kronos for the New York premiere of his composition "Anomaly" that was commissioned specifically for (and by?) Kronos. It has seven movements, including one with just handbells. Part of another movement feat

Happy, happy! Hope it's not too cold for you back here...

Hey Judy, did you see (apparently the first in a series) with the Bridge School News Network yet? I love it when the girl tells him that she likes Mamma Mia and he says, "What about 'Heart of Gold?'"

I wouldn't say my photos are super by any means, but a few of them turned out OK. For instance, here's a closeup of Neil and Pegi during "I Shall Be Released": And here's Norah Jones and Jeff (and Sasha Dobson) during the show-closing "Comes A Time": You can find all of my shots from Bridge School here. (They're pretty much all from the second day because we weren't really sitting close enough the first day to get too many decent photos.)

Glad you guys were able to see Gary, Tamala and Joyce! I don't think I've ever managed to see him solo, though I saw the Jayhawks a bunch of times. Excited to hear about some upcoming Jayhawks dates!

Again, it's tough to give a decent report on the debut of this new song having heard it just once and in a stripped-down arrangement. My first impressions were that it's a mid-tempo number with some pretty evocative lyrics, though definitely not as immediately catchy as the song that was debuted on the first day of Bridge School. Rereading some of the lyrics I managed to scrawl down, the tone seems to be a fairly bleak one: "There's nothing left here/The country has disappeared" and "Hold out your hands/So much you don't understand/Stick as close as you can" and something about "best laid plan

Okebo's setlist was almost right, just switched Jesus and Cali Stars. The correct order was: Hummingbird new song-I'll Fight For You (?) Forget the Flowers Jesus, etc. California Stars The Late Greats War on War The new one wasn't the one Jeff played at his solo shows in Spain last month, based on the YouTube clips I watched. I hesitate to describe a new song after hearing it once -- and in an all-acoustic performance, no less -- but it's definitely got a catchy chorus that starts off the song. (Can that even be properly described as a chorus? I'm not sure.) Anyway, it goes something l

Qui est-ce? (Actually I Googled it, but just wanted to type something en francais so maybe you'd think I was from Quebec or something. ) Glad you and Doug had fun, Judy! PS What'd you think of Everest and/or Death Cab?

Have a happy happy day, Senor Frog! Hope the weather Down Under is mighty fine (is it ever not?).

That is what the Pitchfork article said. -
Pronto is great...Go check 'em out! (P.S. To any NYC peeps, is it just me or do you always get confused by Union Pool and Union Hall?)

You sure there isn't any Ratatat merch? Seriously, it was really fun slinging all those T-shirts. Even though I don't live in Chicago, I guess I've been there enough over the years to get to know some of the people in the Chicago music community; to me, there's so much more of a community feel there as opposed to New York. And that's really epitomized by Tim and Katie and the Hideout. So it was great to get to hang and drink for free and see a lot of familiar faces all weekend. Sign me up for next year...

Monotonix fits that description pretty well, too.
