It makes perfect sense for them to announce the first wave of dates this week, in the immediate afterglow of Solid Sound, so I figured they would. Hopefully there's a Chicago show, either at the start or the end of the run (or perhaps around Thanksgiving), lest people around here get all bent out of shape...

A little commentary and the complete setlists for Wilco and Syl Johnson here.

For Brennan, and anyone else that might care, I also posted a rough setlist for the Pajama Club set last night at the above link. I'm obviously guessing at a few of the song titles...

Kristofor got it mostly right, but you can find the complete setlist here: I got your setlist right here

Reggie is awesome. I've seen him maybe five or six times and no show is ever the same. He's one of the few people, maybe the only person, who marries improv and standup comedy. Certainly one of the few to marry those two with music. Very cool that he and Glenn (and Buke and Gass) all collaborated on something!

Totally agree with Tony that Syl Johnson's set is gonna be something to see, for sure. The Sweet Divines are a cool girl group and if, as I suspect, the band is the same one that backed Syl last December in Brooklyn, that's going to be some show before Wilco plays. Looking forward to it!

Here I am! I doubt I have all the answers, but in my experience, GA lines in the UK are MUCH mellower than in the States. London would be the only place I would expect there to be much of an early forming queue, but I suppose as the band has gotten more popular abroad, there might be a slight uptick in early queuers, but probably not too much. Of course no one is likely to be as indifferent to queue-ing as the Irish. At least in my experience...

Nels Cline, Tim Berne and Jim Black To Release Live Improvised Album
bböp replied to Analogman's topic in Just A Fan
I think Nels half jokingly called this his (or their) "metal" album. It's pretty heavy music, as I recall, and very intensely played, as befitting the oven-like conditions at the Stone that night. -
Yeah, damn those webcasts! Just kidding. I couldn't make it to the Gorge this time -- would love to go someday -- but happened to turn on the NPR stream just when the Decemberists were going on. So, of course I stayed up late to catch the Wilco set as well. First time I've actually listened to a webcast show and, while it's no substitute for actually being there, I thought it was pretty cool. So kudos to NPR. I had to laugh when the commentators were speculating about new songs, though, because most of us knew that they almost certainly weren't going to play anything new. Anyway, I do symp

Damn, RIP indeed! I just bought a nice copy of Secrets on vinyl yesterday....

That would probably ordinarily be the case, though I think the printed setlist actually had a planned first encore of Poor Places>Reservations>Spiders that unfortunately got axed in favor of a single rockin' encore. Playing to the kind of crowd it was, I guess, as well as maybe an 11 p.m. curfew.
-
I think it was a white Epiphone solid body of some sort with a whammy bar. I don't remember seeing him play it before this little mini-tour, but I could be wrong. He used it for At Least as well as Spiders.

I posted the complete setlist and some preliminary comments on the last show of this weeklong Southern run over at setlistguy.wordpress.com.

Hey mods, feel free to delete the duplicate thread I just started for this show. Noah's got the setlist correct here and my post didn't really add anything...

Despite no alcohol (or drinks of any kind, to my knowledge) being sold inside the venue, the crowd seemed plenty riled up for a good old-fashioned Saturday night college show in North Texas... I posted the complete setlist and a few comments over at setlistguy.wordpress.com.

As far as the setlists go, sometimes it's not what you play but how you play it. I think it's pretty clear by this point that they're not going to play any new songs on this run, but I do think we're in for at least few nuggets the next couple of shows. I'd be surprised if we didn't get at least a couple of relative rarities anyway. I feel a need to say a word about the VWT being such a weird venue sound-wise. I feel like a lot of the sound just somehow evaporated or dissipated. Or maybe muffled conveys the feeling better. Anyway, that was my main letdown in terms of the show last night. (

I amended my original post to "assless chaps" because that's what Jeff actually said. He started down that road when he saw and/or heard some people in the balcony to his right. The Verizon Wireless Theater has sort of a U-shaped balcony that wraps all the way around that has seats even with or even a little bit "behind" the stage. Anyway, he heard people up there and said something like (I may be slightly paraphrasing), "Did you pay for those seats? I didn't even know there were people up there. ... Good thing I didn't wear my assless chaps." I think everyone cringed a little at that thoug

Though the good old Verizon Wireless Theater is far from a great venue sonically, the band still put on a fun, sweaty show with an unplanned (I think) second encore. One thing I don't really want to ever picture is Jeff in assless chaps... Complete setlist at I got your setlist right here...

Great news! I wish I could remember how I procured the Spanish tickets last time. I think it was through Sandbag, actually. Actually getting the tickets in hand was another story... And FYI, for anyone interested in the three German shows (not including the Weekender festival), I just got an e-mail that seems to indicate tickets are on sale now through eventim.de.
-
I'll never understand what makes a reserved seating crowd finally stand up -- you stay sitting for A Shot in the Arm, At Least That's What You Said and Impossible Germany but come to your feet for Airline To Heaven? -- but once people stood up for the last third of the show, what could have been a relatively subdued show turned into a rocking one. Anyway, a fun night with some nice setlist surprises. Even without a new song... The complete setlist, as played, is posted over at I got your setlist right here...

Haha, very funny. Actually, I think that Nov. 3 date is probably San Sebastian (which I believe is called Donostia in Basque?). I know the band loved playing there last time. Looks like maybe the days of GA European shows are dwindling. Certainly in Spain. The Circus Krone in Munich is a bit weird in terms of seating, in case anyone was thinking of doing that one. Anybody know anything about the Berlin venue or the ones in Holland? And is the Roundhouse definitely GA? I always wanted to see a show there...

Sorry to be such a slacker. I just posted a little something over on the blog on last night's show, though.

To mods, it would appear that el mergo is in order...

Still waiting for a full-band performance of a new song, but a fun show regardless. Complete setlist here: I got your setlist right here...
