  1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGB0LvlJ0kc this band from TN
  2. that's so funny! i have a picture with Pat where he looks dazed as all get out!
  3. Glad you gave us an update, Greg! I hope you recover swiftly!
  4. I've talked to all the current members several times. Jeff has always been the nicest to me, with John and Glenn in close 2nd. I got to talk to Jay Bennett when he and Ed Burch came to Chattanooga when I was a sophomore in high school. My dad took me to the bar to see the show, and we ended up talking with Jay for a long time! He even offered to help me with my algebra homework!
  5. 10/14/05- Asheville, NC- Thomas Wolfe 3/17/06- Nashville, TN- Ryman 1/30/07- Knoxville, TN- Bijou Theatre (Jeff Solo) 6/19/07- Atlanta, GA- Chastain Park 8/24/07- Berkley, CA- Greek Theatre 8/26/07- Santa Barbra, CA- Santa Barbra County Bowl 3/2/08- Nashville, TN- Ryman (upcoming 3/26/09- Atlanta) I am still kicking myself for missing them when they were in Knoxville last Spring. I saw the Avett Brothers that night instead in my hometown.
  6. i enjoyed it a lot, it really should have won. i didn't watch the award show, but did check amanda palmer's tweets about it every so often. she posted a couple "behind the scenes" pictures during it all, and they were funny.
  7. Besides "Into the Mystic" i don't really care for any other Van Morrison songs... at all.
  8. i am going to watch baseball this year because it looks fun.
  9. what are shoes? they don't sell them foot warmers in these parts. (seriously? whoa.)
  10. i laughed at that for a good ten minutes friday morning.
  11. I would say your best bet is to go hang around the venue the afternoon of the show.
  12. i think it was a bit too Son Volt-y, actually, for my tastes.
  13. J.S. Bach sounds just like Wilco, only slower and without the annoyingness of lyrics.
  14. yeah, they played the Ryman 2 years ago. I guess it makes sense that the Atlanta venue is a bit bigger cos there are a ton of major cities within driving distance. I bet there will be almost as many out of town folks as actual Atlanta folks.
  15. I WISH they would have played the Ryman again. It was AMAZING and I think capacity was a little less than 1,500
  16. There was a nice review of it in the Entertainment Weekly today. They got a better rating than any other records I think, which isn't really saying a lot cos it's EW, but still cool. I like it way better than "Ga". Some of the vocal mixes kinda spooked me at first listening to it alone with headphones in an empty house.

    Big Star

It took me a long time to "get" Big Star. A teacher of mine in high school made me a copy of "#1 Record/Radio City" and I listened to it, but didn't really get into it until I heard Elliott Smith's version of "Thirteen" then went back and re-discovered them, and now am mildly obsessed.
  18. i heard it in the grocery store this summer too! Really weird/cool. Agreed on the VH1 hit thing, especially cos the plugged the hell outta Feist's "1234"
  19. So, would I be right in thinking the ATL venue is one of the bigger ones they are playing on the tour? It seats almost 7,000
