Mrs. Peel
What is this?... I think I heard it in Tower Records last night.... Female voice?... really good cover song on it? No and no. The singer wears more makeup than a female though, if that helps. It's The Cure, "Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me".

Mrs. Peel
Best Cure album ever! I agree. It's hard to pick a favorite though. For the doom and gloom era, Disintegration tops the list with Wish being a very close second. From the early years, Boys Don't Cry is my favorite, I think. And Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss me for the transitional years.

And Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss me for the transitional years. I met him at the airport in about 85 or 86. Full black get up, teased hair and white makeup. Why-o-why he would travel like that is beyond me - but the sad part, he was pretty pudgy. I'd imagined this skinny little boy and Smith as an overweight rock star just didn't cut it. My fav is Head on the Door. 'It was the size of this really satisfying dump'

Mrs. Peel
God, if he doesn't look fugly these days in it though. No friggin' kidding. Really, I don't think he ever looked particularly good. I will always have a soft spot for him though.I'll bet he's not too happy about having to wear all that makeup these days. It's like "Well, I took it this far, now I've got to keep going...." I noticed he cut his hair shorter though, probably so he has the option of looking normal. Like the kids with the fauxhawks who grow out the middle section just a little bit longer so they can spike it up on weekends but can still comb it into a normal haircut for the family picnics. My fav is Head on the Door. Damn, forgot about that one. That's side by side with Kiss Me X3 for the transitional years. I don't really think of myself as a raging Cure fan, but I guess I kind of am. Calexico
I don't really think of myself as a raging Cure fan, but I guess I kind of am. There was this guy who was in the navy with me and he never liked music at all until someone gave him a Cure album and he went the whole 9 yards and got all their stuff and got his hair dyed to go to a gig. Half an hour into the gig his home dye job was dripping all over his face! He was in some state in the pub after the gig!
lizish
Hey! Stop ragging on the fat guys!! well, since you mention it, I see Jay B has not been skipping the Flying J desert table: I used to think the white boy dreads and the glasses were kinda cute.

Mrs. Peel
Love the Navy guy story! I didn't even recognize Jay until I saw his name. NP: Thanks for the reminder, T. It's days like this I love having entire discographies on my iPod.
poonkorama
NP: Thanks for the reminder, T. It's days like this I love having entire discographies on my iPod. Head on the Door is such a great album. Although I do prefer the remixed version of "Close to Me" (with horns) that is featured on Standing on a Beach over the original version on HOTD. Given the dark raininess of today, I may have to listen to Pornography later.
Mrs. Peel
One of my greatest vinyl discoveries was finding Quadpus at a tag sale. Of course, now you can get it on ebay pretty easily. But at the time I had no idea of its existence until that very moment.

Welsh Rich
It's actually a grower... initial listens won't have anything jump out at you, but there's some rather good tracks on it... honest guv!

Which I don't have either.
