Sweet Papa Crimbo
But she is smoking hot in that movie. As opposed to the one in which she is skanky?
MattZ
Go InterNet! I had to stop 4 mins in when the guy leaves the voicemail message. I am going to go throw up now.
Beltmann
I had to stop 4 mins in when the guy leaves the voicemail message. I am going to go throw up now.I've probably seen that segment 15-20 times (I teach it sometimes). I still shake when I watch it.
oatmealblizzard
Go InterNet!Wow. That short is really quite affecting. I had never seen that before. Thanks. Good to hear; we're usually on the same page. I'm excited to see it, but it's unlikely I will see it any time soon... I've taken a vow of cinema chastity until my grad thesis is complete. I barely have time to catch something on DVD these days, and even then it's usually broken up over two or three late nights when I'm too beat to write. In fact, writing is what I'm supposed to be doing right now, so thanks for distracting me, pal. Cinema chastity! (*gasp*)Seriously, though... it was an excellent flick, in my humblest of opinions. Fincher strips away a lot of the bells and whistles that are typical of his work (though the style is still quite distinct) and tells this story in just about the most effective manner I could imagine. Some might argue its a little on the long side, but that certainly didn't bother me (I enjoyed ever minute). Good performances, too. How's the thesis coming?
MattZ
I've probably seen that segment 15-20 times (I teach it sometimes). I still shake when I watch it. I like when art pushes me. Shakes my box. Makes me squirm in my seat. But it must still be too soon for me. Or maybe it will always be too soon for me. I used to work in those buildings and used to meet my girflriend (now wife) in the courtyard between the bldgs after work. Imagining that courtyard littered with body parts and blood and expense reports is too much for me. I've never been one to think that ignoring something is the best way to deal, but I don't know how to deal with something of that magnitude any other way. I guess the guy leaving that voicemail doesn't sound like art to me - it sounds like it could be one of my buddies. Fine line, I guess.

caliber66
Was that as awful as its title? We got it from Netflix, and it sat around for about two months, and then we sent it back, unwatched. So I don't know why you're asking me.

Sir Stewart
I saw Zodiac on Saturday and enjoyed the hell out of it. Then we snuck into I Think I Love My Wife and lasted for about 30 minutes. Yikes.
EL the Famous
finally caught Borat over the weekend...funny, but not midblowingly so. the wrestling scene was one of the most disturbing things i've ever seen.
bobbob1313
I rented this and Fast Food Nation tonight. Watched this first and I have to say I didn't expect much, and it was really good. Watching Fast Food Nation now, not sure what to expect.

kathyp
I'm watching (watched, really) a DVD of a bunch of old Replacements tv appearances (not many) that someone sent me last year. The "shaved eyebrows" interview is classic, and another one with Paul and Tommy in a hotel sometime in the late-eightes -- the look of contempt in Paul's eyes for the rather clueless interviewer is priceless. awatt
finally caught Borat over the weekend...funny, but not midblowingly so. the wrestling scene was one of the most disturbing things i've ever seen. I just watched it this weekend too, and meh. It was ok, but I too was disturbed by the naked fat guy more than the self-hating Jew bits (which I usually enjoy in other, funnier films). Tonight, it's Kill Bill, vols 1 and 2.
