You Can Be The Stone
It's been getting kinda spring-ish in Washington in the past few days, and hearing "What Light" in a field with headphones under a... well, 'sky blue sky', as corny as the song is, by God, it's beautiful. parisisstale
While I'm definitely enjoying the album so far, "Either Way" doesn't really do much for me (especially as an opener). But maybe I'll enjoy it more should I get dumped in the near future.

Kilgore Trout
I'm going to go home and see if I can get the wife to divorce me so I can truely appreciate Hate it Here.
honestgabe
You have to try to get dumped like I did. It doesn't just happen over night.Put some effort into it Ha, I was just dumped 3 weeks ago I think. Well it was less than a week after Valentine's Day, so whenever that was. But yeah, this is a good break up album. When I listen to Sky Blue Sky it hits me. But I'm doing fine, because she left me for some scummy kid who has nothing going for himself. imsjry
A perfect opening track. I'm in love with this song.

danelectro
I don't really hear Either Way as a relationship song but as a struggle with depression. The subject seems to be looking for reinforcement from their partner to help quell feeling so bad. Either Way I really like the song. It's likely going to be my favorite Wilco song ever. In fact the first time I heard it I got choked up, it perfectly explained the way I was feeling that day. It's not often music affects me that way.
Sir Stewart
It's got a 'Here Comes the Sun' feel to it, thematically.

Halsey12
I like how it rhymes and how it's about the sun shine. It just works on so many levels.
Magus673
At first, the song was nothing special to me except for the great solo. However, it knew it had grown on me when i got choked up at the line "i'm gonna stay right for you" cause that I interpreted that line as coming from Jeff and what he's been through. Now I really like the song.
epifromaustin
I'm going to go home and see if I can get the wife to divorce me so I can truely appreciate Hate it Here. I'm pretty sure my wife is questioning just why I enjoy Hate It Here so much...
jethro
While I'm definitely enjoying the album so far, "Either Way" doesn't really do much for me (especially as an opener).True dat. It's not a bad song but it's not a good way to open the record. I realize others disagree but I'll just say I'm much happier with the record now that it's gone. echo
i think either way is the perfect album opener...and the best song on the album...for now. e
dark heat
Either Way is a fine song by itself, but it wouldn't work half as well if it didn't have You Are My Face to follow it.
Kalle
The only that annoys me about Either Way and You Are My Face is that they both end and start with a D chord. I dunno if I'm weird but it's just irritating!

Kalle
Yeah Either Way pretty much sums up the record in one song. Mellow, Jeffs lyrics and vocals being awesome, an awesome Nels solo. It rocks!

ledfloyd
either way sounds alot like a bill fay song to me. anyone else here that?
lost highway
Yeah-like Bill Fay S/T songs, but arranged and performed a la Time of the Last Persecution. Lots of heavy handed "search for light" kind of images. Doesn't get quite as Biblical as Fay but its definitely down that road.
lavallster
The lyrics are much more optomistic than: "Springtime comes and the leaves are back on the trees again,Snipers are harder to see my friends."
