rwrkb
i didn't know some of those were underappreciated... i think wilco should be higher (of course)...
Col. Hapablap
What?? Not another RS list!! Why dont they actually cover the music instead of making lists? Its cool that Wilco got a mention, though.
rwrkb
i think we could totally get another conversation about andrew bird going with this topic.......
Magus673
tom petty?
yankhotelfox
I think Greg Kot mentions that Jeff and Jay dug Husker Du a lot in their teen years. I'm not so sure about Bob Seger.
RainDogToo
Ah! I was just coming here to post this! 1. Tom Waits I couldn't have picked a better #1. Tom Waits is the most underappreciated artist by far!! Wilco should be #2!!
Col. Hapablap
tom petty? He is one of my favorites, but i am surprised to see him on that list. He IS underappreciated in a way, meaning that the songs besides his greatest hits album dont get enough press, but he not nearly as underappreciated as many of the other artists on that list. Why the hell aren't the Pixies on there?
OOO
I think the Talking Heads are pretty appreciated (as well they should be)
tongue-tied
Ah! I was just coming here to post this! I couldn't have picked a better #1. Tom Waits is the most underappreciated artist by far!! Wilco should be #2!! it seems to me though that the people who listen to him treat him like God, which is a large amount of appreciation, which is what bothers me with this list. is it monetary appreciation? critical? fan appreciation? is this measurable at all? or is this just a waste of time... jhh4321
Why the hell aren't the Pixies on there? Because this list was written by Rolling Stone. tom petty? Because this list was written by Rolling Stone.
rwrkb
Because this list was written by Rolling Stone.Because this list was written by Rolling Stone. what are you trying to say about RS?
jhh4321
what are you trying to say about RS? I actually don't have that much hatred for the magazine, its definitely full of garbage but there is also some enjoyable content...but when it comes to lists, they are almost guaranteed to be awful. Gobias Industries
The Band should REALLY be #1 with wilco floating around the 5 spot. But whatev, Rolling Stone is Rolling Stone.
rwrkb
But whatev, Rolling Stone is Rolling Stone. actually rolling stone is actually jay bennett
cryptique
What, no Nick Drake?
welch79
I'm not so sure about Bob Seger.i'm not so sure about you. i do like me some bob seger. who cares if he's on this list or whatever.
Sir Stewart
If you readers had your way, your unsung rock heroes would not stay underappreciated for long. We got a veritable shitload of comments in response to this weekend
bjorn_skurj
The Pharcyde has some Taliban-level fans. I like them fine, but not enough to kill for.
wheelco
yeh, Bob Cigar threw me a little
Atticus
"veritable shitload"
So Long
Bob Seger definately threw me. Nick Drake's absence is also mysterious.
WaronWar
I think The Feelies should be up there. But I agree with Nick Drake also having to be on the list. The list is very stupid (no matter who made it) because seriously Bob Seger and Tom Petty. I do, however, agree with Sonic Youth's placing because there records especially their early stuff and their 90's experiments are highly underappreciated.
mountain bed
Roxy definitely deserves to be on that list. I know that 90% of RS is crapola, but man that 40th anniversary issue is a keeper! GREAT interviews with a number of folks.
Nowhereman65
The Hold Steady????? WTF is that about
