caliber66
Once Bitten and what's the other one? I'm sure I should know. edit: My Best Friend Is a Vampire. Yeah, I remember that one, too.
ction
I really think it's the same movie, just two different versions with two guys who vaguely resemble each other.
Sir Stewart
I can't believe neither of the films you're talking about is Vamp. Also, Evan Almighty looks like a piece of shit.
aricandover
No exception to your Jim Carey dislike rule with that movie? That's really the only movie he's in that I'm not tremendously annoyed by the guy. In fact, I think it's pretty great. I tried with that one too, it didn't hold my interest. I didn't hate what I saw though, I just found better things to do with my time. Eternal Sunshine, on the other hand...what I saw of it was painful. I couldn't care less about a single character in that film, and I was so happy when when my wife agreed that we could turn it off.
WilcoFan
I didn't like the first one but I am willing to be that this one will be better than the first. Dumb and Dumber was a great movie. Sea Bass.
anodyne
no love for jim's work lip syncing to guns n roses in the Dead Pool? c'mon! oh, and evan almighty has already won the award for this year for movies that make me want to go on a stabbing spree.

That's right - I saw that movie in the theater - film broke - which was a good thing.
welch79
i have generally enjoyed carrey's work...except for the mask. granted, i grew through high school watching dumb and dumber/ace ventura and of course in living color. there have been some crappers, though: the mask and 23 come to mind, though i'm certain there's more. he has a pretty decent body of work, in my book. of substance: man on the moon, cable guy, of course spotless mind and the truman show. i'm a fan. bruce almighty was good enough. nothing serious, good-hearted message. evan almighty looks like a kids movie. and as far as my apparent "ambivalence" rwrkb, all i wanted to communicate is that i won't see this movie, but i wouldn't talk somebody out of it if they wanted to see it. LouieB
i have generally enjoyed carrey's work...except for the mask. Its strange, but Ace Ventura is stupid, but funny once, Dumb and Dumber I couldn't watch, but I really liked The Mask. Go figure. LouieB

I couldn't care less about a single character in that film, and I was so happy when when my wife agreed that we could turn it off.I'm glad you feel this way. I hated that movie. As for Jim Carrey overall, I liked the Truman Show. Eat it, bitches. I also have a soft spot for Dumb and Dumber.
bobbob1313
I think Evan Almighty looks pretty funny, if only because Steve Carel is hysterical at all times. As for Carrey, I like: Truman Show, Dumb and Dumber, Man On The Moon. I did not like Eternal Sunshine at all, and still don't understand all of the praise it gets... aricandover
if only because Steve Carel is hysterical at all times. up until the ads for this, I would've agreed with you. it looks like a nothing film to me, like they're just banking on people saying "Hey, it's Steve Carel! This has to be funny."
Serak_the_Preparer
I did not like Eternal Sunshine at all, and still don't understand all of the praise it gets...Oh, that's easy, it gets praise because it is so awesome.

bobbob1313
He is like Will Ferrel - plays the same deal over and over again - no matter what movie it is. Except - he has tried to do some non-comedic roles. Will Ferrell was really good in Stranger Than Fiction.
Analogman
Will Ferrell was really good in Stranger Than Fiction. I prefer his talents best within the context of sketch comedy.

Wilco Worshipper
So a year later, I guess I'm eating my own words. My girls and I just watched this. They've seen it before and picked it out for movie night yesterday. It does seem more like a kids' movie but it has even a better message than Bruce did, imo anyway. I actually feel bad for Evan... Not as funny as Bruce but better than I thought.
