solace
and it's fucking ACE. besides 5-6 songs i just never really got into Twin Cineman nearly as much as the first two, but i'll be damned if this song isn't making me grin from ear to ear... nice throwback to the 50's/60's but still sounding pretty fresh http://cache.idolator.com/assets/resources/mp3/np_rights.mp3
PigSooie
When is the new album expected?
MattZ
Love it. To pieces.
TheMaker
It's okay, but it should have been an album track. The harmonies are really nice, but it lacks the exuberance of the best NPs songs. I think I like every song on Twin Cinema better than this one.

I think I like every song on Twin Cinema better than this one.it's not on the album? Twin Cinema just didn't have enough power pop for me like the first 2, that's what i like about them. not too big on Bejar's penned songs most the time (w/ a few exceptions). ction
Can't listen to this yet...who's singing? Neko or Newman?
MattZ
it lacks the exuberance of the best NPs songs That's what I like about. Sometimes they can be too exuberant. This is a cool mellow(er) groove. Can't listen to this yet...who's singing? Neko or Newman? newman
cryptique
Have they sold this one for an ad yet?
PigSooie
This thing is good.
EL the Famous
I like it...don't know if I love it, but that's okay. Definitely looking forward to new stuff!
TheMaker
Have they sold this one for an ad yet? No, but it's definitely dad-rock. Oooooh no he di'int! As for my whole "album track" comment above, I guess I just assumed that this was the single, but now it occurs to me that maybe it isn't. All I meant was that it'd probably sound better amongst a bunch of other songs. I've listened to it three or four times now, though, and it's a real grower. Very nicely put together! solace
the arrangement on this reminds me of Rubber Era Beatles
TCP
I can agree with the Rubber Soul comment.Vancouver's best export, for sure!
Beltmann
besides 5-6 songs i just never really got into Twin Cineman nearly as much as the first two, but i'll be damned if this song isn't making me grin from ear to ear...I felt the same way about Twin Cinema as you did, so I'm glad to hear your response to the single. Haven't listened yet, but I'm eager...
Dreamin'
Very cool. Thanks, Kyle! Twin Cinema isn't as caffeinated as the first two albums, but it always puts a smile on my face.
blindgonzo
I really like this song! I haven't really gotten into The New Pornographers at all yet. Any recommendations for an album to start with?
Wendy
Nice song!
EL the Famous
I really like this song! I haven't really gotten into The New Pornographers at all yet. Any recommendations for an album to start with? I'd like to say Electric Version, but they all have stellar moments.
blindgonzo
Thanks, I'll start with that one then!
airtaco
Well, I'd personally say Mass Romantic has the most jaw-dropping moments, but Twin Cinema is the most consistent. That being said, I can't think of a better pop-songwriter this decade than Newman. Just get all of them. This song is good, but on first listen there was nothing killer. No killer hooks that usually come naturally. Still pumped for Challengers, though.
Wendy
From Matador Website: http://www.matadorrecords.com/matablog/ My Rights Versus Yours (mp3), from the forthcoming CD/LP 'Challengers', in stores August 21. However, if you're not into waiting around, said full-length masterpiece is the 4th installment in Matador's Buy Early, Get Now campaign. Full details to follow, but rest assured, you'll be amply rewarded for your participation.
augurus
Mass Romantic's music sounded pretty good. But the lyrics were/are some of the Pornographers worst by a far margin. I like this track. This new direction definitely sounds like the progression from the sunsetting sound of These Are The Fables.
TheMaker
Oh, shit, is that cover legit? That's laugh-out-loud awful! (Of course, once I've become inured to the joke, I'll probably make this face every time I have to look at it: )
Calexico
Yea, that's pretty damn fine pop. Great arrangement, vocals....am I the only one who hears a little ELO there?
Scalzunfield
What puzzles me is those of you who are saying Twin Cinema was unimpressive except for a few songs because this song would have fit right in there as the laid back arrangement does not fit with either Mass Romantic or Electric Version. In any case, I've loved all three NP albums and I love this song. I can't wait.
