Since no one else has yet, I figured I’d share my experience seeing U2 at the Sphere in Las Vegas last week. (I’m a little behind as I was traveling after the weekend and busy with catching up on work

Yep, they botched Staring At The Sun on the opening night of the PopMart Tour in 1997 and since then they have only played it acoustically. Stay (Faraway, So Close!) & Stuck In A Moment You Can’t

I enjoy the Monster record - but I was not a huge fan of the live show on the cd deluxe edition -- enjoyed the music on the live set, but I thought Stipe's vocals were off -- to much straining, from w

Yeah, several years ago I bought a few VHS tapes of R & H Outtakes & when I got home there was no audio at all. When I was watching them at the record show, there was audio. Not sure what kind of sorcery the dude pulled on me.

If you're good with downloading video files & burning them to disc, then I'd recommend hitting either U2Start or U2Torrents for all of the Outtakes. They're still out there on YouTube & I watch them though my Apple TV.

I think they're going to miss the boat on any sort of 30th anniversary edition. I've heard nothing. I'd love for these Outtakes to be released officially and maybe some stuff from those sessions.

U2 is releasing Zooropa on blue vinyl & The Joshua Tree on gold vinyl on Friday November 23. On that same day, they are releasing a Record Store Day exclusive: Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me as sung by Gavin Friday & Arcade Fire's Regine Chassagne. It's the version being used as an intermission on the current tour. The b-side will be a new remastered version of the original song.

I have also heard that U2 is going to release The Joshua Tree 30th Anniversary Tour DVD between Thanksgiving & Christmas. It was filmed last October in Mexico City over 2 shows.

U2 also filmed this past June's D.C. shows for a future DVD release of the Experience & Innocence Tour. That seems to be scrapped for now, since U2 plans to film the final show of the tour in Germany next month. That's the show that was postponed due to Bono losing his voice.

U2's show designer, Willie Williams, said the reason is that U2 finally changed the setlist a few weeks ago. They removed the "Innocence" portion in the first half of the show that includes: The Ocean, Iris, Cedarwood Road, Sunday Bloody Sunday and Until The End Of The World. They originally replaced those 5 songs with The Unforgettable Fire, Stay (Faraway, So Close), and Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses. They dropped The Unforgettable Fire after one night and have replaced it with Zoo Station. Stay is full band electric which they haven't done since they debuted the song in July of 1993. On the Zoorooa Tour, the band quickly shifted it to an acoustic version and since then only Bono & The Edge performed it.

It looks like they're going to premiere Landlady tonight in Milan during the encore. I'm extremely happy that they've taken themselves off of auto pilot and are using the last month changing things up.

U2 added The Fly to the setlist about a month ago. The band plays the song inside the screen.

They also just added Dirty Day off of Zooropa. This reimagining of the song is a bit like The Ocean on this tour. It features a lengthy Bonologue about the members of U2 and their fathers. The song was featured on the Zoo TV Live From Syndey DVD. Before this past Friday, it wasn't performed since late 1993 on the last date of the Zoo TV Tour.

Tomorrow is the last show of the tour. It will be filmed for a future DVD release. There are rumors that this was U2's last tour, but I don't see how that could be true without it being marketed that way. I'm sure there will be a very lengthy break for them, since they've been on an album/tour cycle dating back to 2014.

Some very quick bits from yesterday's U2 concert in Berlin. Bono said that "We're going away now..." which fueled speculation about the end of the band....

But fans spoke with crew members after the show & they were asked by U2 to clear their calendars for Sept-Dec 2019 for an Australian stadium tour. It sounds like it will be a completely new tour.

Anton Corbijn said that the proposed Nov date (next week) for the Joshua Tree 30th Anniversary Tour concert DVD has been postponed to March because they want it to play in select theaters.

The band also has some 360 degree filmed shows that will come to light somehow. Virtual Reality? The one off Apollo Theater show in June & the gig in Newark that same month were filmed that way.

It looks like U2 is going to do a stadium tour later this year (Nov/Dec) in Australia, New Zealand & Asia. An announcement is expected in early May. Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds are rumored to open all of the dates.

It's unknown if U2 plans to bring their Joshua Tree Anniversary tour to this part of the world or if it'll be a completely new show.

Reported by U2Songs website.

I see there are releasing a live album. I guess it is for members of their U2 fan club/ticket thing.

Yes. It's been a typical shit show from U2.com. They promised a song download per month. They released 2 at the end of January and no one heard anything from them until just this past weekend for 2 more songs.

The physical double disc is due sometime this spring. It seems like it's going to be live tracks of songs from the last 2 albums.

They put out a great release in 2012: U22 - a 22 song collection of live songs from the 360 tour in 2009-2011.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/U22_(album)

Then The Edge picked some extra songs for another live fan club exclusive release the following year. Same 360 tour along with 5 online downloads. So pretty much any song performed on that tour are available across the 2 collections.

I think U2.com saw a dramatic drop in subscriptions in years where U2 wasn't touring, since most people signed up solely to get first crack at tickets. These gifts have been nice. They've also had cool vinyl and a few remix albums that I could do without.

Yep. I just received the email about the tour with the tour dates. November & December of this year. U2 fans were expecting an official announcement all month.

I’m surprised too, but I think it makes sense financially. The stage is already built. The most recent tour from last year was only in arenas. And it looks like it’s a quick 9 shows.

^ I saw this posted over the weekend and came here to post this, but you beat me to it. Another thing to add to my ever growing watch list.

I bought the bootleg Rattle & Hum “Outtakes” on VHS years ago at a record convention and had a few issues with the playback. I think I found out some of the songs had no audio. I don’t have a VCR anymore, so I’ll do some digging on YouTube to watch them. I know that they’re available on some bit torrent sites.

Also, U2 released a live concert which you can only stream from their official website if you’re a fan club member. But it’s been making the rounds on YouTube. Just do a search for U2 Live In Berlin 2018. Running time should be close to 2.5 hours. Fan club members should expect a DVD of the concert around May. It’s safe to say that the Anton Corbijn directed Joshua Tree 30th Anniversary concert film expected to hit theaters has been delayed due to current events.

It's pretty amazing. I don't know all the legal stuff - but Phil must have the rights to post the stuff. As I was watching those videos I could not help but cry for several reasons. Their music affects me deeply. Those clips are certainly better quality than what we have seen. I can only hope they do some big re-release some day. I still have the original VHS tape I got way back when. And I got to see the film in a theater the week it came out. Actually I saw it three times.

Yeah, I’d imagine that Phil has to own the rights to the footage. The music though? I’m not so sure. Their music still makes me emotional too.

I think a Rattle & Hum deluxe edition with bonus tracks and footage is long overdue. I’m sure a band like U2 that wants to make as much $$ as possible from past releases have a plan to do so.
