I really liked it! It reminded me of Deerhoof... if they were perhaps a little less mad. A real lush surprise of a record.

Still can't get into that Panda Bear record though...

Person Pitch heavily reminds me of the experience I had when Brian Wilson released Smile. When I first heard it, I thought it sounded pretty dated. But it took about a year and a half to start appreciating the entire record.

Back to Person Pitch, I can't play this when other people are in the car. It may not be my favorite record right now, but I think it's outstanding.

Hmmm... perhaps I just need to find the right environment to listen to it... I've still not got round to listening to the Animal Collective new one yet either. I had an "interesting" experience seeing them live which has kinda tainted my opinion of them...

2. sorry, man!

3. well, only 1 listen through so far, so it's really too early to tell. on the initial run-through i was neither disappointed nor blown away. will give it many more listens over the coming weeks.

All this love for the Broken Family Band makes me smile! They're locals from Cambridge, seen 'em play dozens of time and met them a couple of times... nice lads. Played in the local music festival end of August too.

wish they would ditch those day jobs and go for a North 'full on Rock and Roll' American tour. I bet a band whose timing is near perfect would put on a great show.

So that is good, huh? I haven't really gotten into Josh Ritter yet, but maybe I should check it out.

I'm a real fan girl.

Last year's CD was good. But only good. This one sounds like a wilder sequel to Golden Age of Radio. All kinds of stuff being thrown into the songs - detuned piano, hoots, horns, opera choruses. It's like he's ditched being solo singer-songwriter dude and got a good and strange band behind him.
