Analogman
Pogue Colonel: Marine, what is that button on your body armor?Private Joker: A peace symbol, sir.Pogue Colonel: Where'd you get it?Private Joker: I don't remember, sir.Pogue Colonel: What is that you've got written on your helmet?Private Joker: "Born to Kill", sir.Pogue Colonel: You write "Born to Kill" on your helmet and you wear a peace button. What's that supposed to be, some kind of sick joke?Private Joker: No, sir.Pogue Colonel: You'd better get your head and your ass wired together, or I will take a giant shit on you. Pogue Colonel: Now answer my question or you'll be standing tall before the man.Private Joker: I think I was trying to suggest something about the duality of man, sir.Pogue Colonel: The what?Private Joker: The duality of man. The Jungian thing, sir.Pogue Colonel: Whose side are you on, son?Private Joker: Our side, sir.Pogue Colonel: Don't you love your country?Private Joker: Yes, sir.Pogue Colonel: Then how about getting with the program? Why don't you jump on the team and come on in for the big win?Private Joker: Yes, sir.Pogue Colonel: Son, all I've ever asked of my marines is that they obey my orders as they would the word of God. We are here to help the Vietnamese, because inside every gook there is an American trying to get out. It's a hardball world, son. We've gotta keep our heads until this peace craze blows over.Private Joker: Aye-aye, sir.

keylime
anyone else seeing them this fall tour? I saw them in Toronto, it was amaaaaaaaaaaaazing. They played the Union Forever and my brain turned to mush. And I met Fred Armisen in the crowd! Great night. You will love every second of both shows.
jhh4321
damn i was hoping that this was an actual white stripes hate thread...oh well
Papillon Parade
I just saw them last Saturday for their 10th Anniversary...front row at that. It was amazing. Wear something comfortable and get prepared to rock the fuck out.
MrRain422
I missed out on buying Aragon tickets because I was out of town when they went on sale. Very bummed out. I've seen them, I think, 8 times now, going back to the White Blood Cells record release show, which was pretty much the beginning of the end as far as their seeing-them-in-clubs days go. They are definately a band that I have taken great pleasure in watching how they progress over time, how their songs and their live shows change (and the ways in which they stay the same). SarahC
You're awesome analogman. p.s. whats the deal with the black and white photo of Sigourney Weaver as your avatar? post of the day! it's actually an album cover.
mountain bed
Since my level of street-cred is already less than zero I'll just be honest & say I don't get the White Stripes. Don't hate.
wilcohead
I'd recommend you check out Get Behind Me Satan. That album is almost perfect. Great way to be introduced to the stripes..... The white stripes = old school rocking blues/rock A lot of stripes reminds me somewhat of zepplin
anodyne
damn i was hoping that this was an actual white stripes hate thread...oh welltotally. i call shenanigans on this thread.
MrRain422
I love Get Behind Me Satan, but I think it's probably their least accessible album. Would be the last one I'd recommend to anyone who isn't familiar with the band.
LouisvilleGreg
I made the mistake of playing Get Behind Me Satan first for my girlfriend and later when I tried to play the first two albums she hated them. She's only lukewarm on Icky Thump. So, I do think Satan is probably somewhat more accesible than others.
quarter23cd
I remain on the fence. "Get Behind Me Satan" finally clicked for me earlier this year and I listened to it a lot for about 2 weeks, and then I listened to "Elephant" and my enthusiasm lost all momentum. Lammycat
I'll get behind "Get Behind Me Satan" as a good place to start with WS. It's the one I consistently go back to when in the mood for some WS. A very good album.
jdmel
VIP pass to Cold War Kids + White Stripes at the Aragon, can't wait for all I can eat and drink in the balcony with Meg and Jack
wilcohead
I'm really excited for the new raconteurs album. I caught them last fall at vegoose and man was I impressed. Jack has such rad stage presence....
Analogman
Since my level of street-cred is already less than zero I'll just be honest & say I don't get the White Stripes. Don't hate. Me either - but a lot of people must love them here - as there are three or four active threads about them right now.
