bjorn_skurj
They have Schilling and Matsuzaka coming up. The issue is still in doubt.

bjorn_skurj
I don't know. Schilling can come up with a big game, and Matsuzaka did not pitch awfully in his previous outing.
jenbobblehead
go sox! think they can beat them Rockies?i don't know. The Rockies are a fast, slick team these days. But Red Sox still have to go two more rounds with the Indians! Man those towels bug me. (no pun intended)
jenbobblehead
PS i think we should put Beckett in a sensory dep chamber, and he can think he's getting full rest, but we'll let him pitch on Sunday. The trick would be to make sure the other team members don't blurt out that its only Sunday.PS i think we should put Beckett in a sensory dep chamber, and he can think he's getting full rest, but we'll let him pitch on Sunday. Oil Can Boyd
My favorite post-game quote from Kenny Lofton: "When you say stuff to Kenny, he's going to say stuff back."
Smokestack Joe
RANDOM BASEBALL THOUGHTS: the sports media will never get over their love affair/obsession/masterbatory relationship with the hated NY Yankees, "everything Yankees" who cares, the era is over!!!! you got rid of Torre, great man, great manager, and you stiffed him with a disrespectful contract. Girardi, LaRussa, Kennedy, Mattingly wont be able to get this team back to the status of the late 90s. deal with it!!! Manny Ramirez is one, if not the best, talented right handed hitters in a long time. yeah yeah "manny being manny" his lax attitude may be his success but it doesnt look or sound good at times, but hey he makes up for it real quick. Boston comes back to win series. After ignoring the Rockies for most of the season, ESPN finally loves the team, ESPN is one of the worst fair weather fans i know, yeah i get it, kiss ass on big city teams, im getting sick of it. Kenny Lofton is a guy i want on my team. Kevin Youkilis is a guy i want on my team. Poor Broncos, they asked NFL to move the Monday night game against the Packers so it wouldnt interfere with the Rockies home WS game, NFL said too bad and now Colorado fans have to choose who to support. I say Screw the Broncos and see the Rocks. Packers will pick clean the broncos anyway. Rockies have a chance. Lastly, Im a Brewer fan, Ryan Braun won Sporting News Rookie of the Year. good stuff

The Rockies in the middle of the pack in the NL Central isn't news, sorry. The end of their regular season + the postseason is newsworthy.
Lammycat
Now that Beckett's gone the Sox are going to get manhandled.Pschaw. Schilling is known as a great post-season/big-game pitcher. Maybe he will get manhandled, but smart money says he has a big game. Sunday is a different matter all together.

The Rockies were still six games back and third in line for a Wild Card spot in mid-September (wow, only 4 weeks ago), which makes their story even more remarkable.
Smokestack Joe
yes i agree that it is a sports network and that the rockies werent newsworthy up until late august. ESPN just has a love affair with NY BOS with whatever, however they do in baseball.
Sir Stewart
So that wasn't a homerun. Okay.
quarter23cd
I just moved to Ohio within the last year and so have sort of hopped on the Tribe bandwagon for the hell of it this postseason. After the Indians went up 3-1 in the series, I was amazed how people here treated it as a foregone conclusion that the series was over. Look, I realize I'm not really a native of this fair state, but even I am pretty familiar with Cleveland sports history. This thing ain't over.
Lammycat
So that wasn't a homerun. Okay.According to the park rules at Jacob's Field, if the ball hits the top part (the flat part) of the yellow it's in play. The way the ball caromed and the slo-mo camera shots indicated this is where it hit. I think they got it right.

ESPN just has a love affair with NY BOS with whatever, however they do in baseball. Both are big market teams with huge fan bases. Both teams pretty much continuously field high caliber/post-season-worthy clubs. ESPN is also based in CT, which happens to be between NY and BOS and originally covered both teams extensively when the network formed. I'd say the love affair is justified. That's so ghey.Happy ghey, right?
ction
Definitely not a homerun, and can anyone tell me if Kate is still mad at me because of my dumb joke?
Smokestack Joe
thanks for responding lammycat. what you say is correct and i am well aware of your points. justified? sure, but my opinion is that it is overdone. not bitter about it, just like to see teams getting dues when deserved. rockies are getting their dues but overshadowed by Joe Torre, Josh Beckett, Manny Ramirez....
