Not even close, for me.

I think it'd come down to where each fits in his role on a given team. Obviously, Tulowitzki's offensive talent is decent and his defense excellent. Ramirez has sub-par defense but excellent offense. I tend to agree with Stark that it's pretty much a toss up and that they're a lot closer in comparison than you give them credit for.

Regardless, they're both excellent young talents.

Well, I've always been of the opinion that the value of a defensive player is overrated, at least inasmuch as it isn't quantifiable (even the best defensive metrics are still mostly guesswork). Tulowitski's defense may make up for the (huge) difference in offense, but I don't know for sure. So based on what I can know, I think Hanley's the better player.

I am skeptical of any player who derives most of their value from defense, especially if I haven't been able to watch them.

:lol

What makes this so funny to me is that because of your avatar, I'm always picturing the guy from The Office saying everything you type. I've only seen the show a couple of times, but that sounds like something he'd say.

Looks like Erik Bedard to Seattle for Adam Jones is imminent:

What the fuck are the Orioles thing about? I know Jones is a Super-prospect, but Bedard is a proven young left-handed pitcher. Last year, they wouldn't even entertain offers for Daniel Cabrera, who has great stuff but couldn't hit the side of a barn!

Baltimore fans, you have my condolences.

Jones for Bedard is good value for the Orioles, since it was common knowledge he wasn't staying.

Bedard actually isn't a free agent until after the '09 season, not '08, so that complicates value a bit here, but I'm inclined to agree with you still. It's not as though the Orioles are going to contend in '09 even if Bedard is still around.
