H-Bomb Henry
I revel in this man's agony. Is that bad? I just can't help it....he has the ethics of a Enron executive. Belichick's Exit
mountain bed
Just remember - Belichick decided to go for it on 4th and 13 when he could have sent the kicker in for a 48 yard FG. Yeah.
Lammycat
Just remember - Belichick decided to go for it on 4th and 13 when he could have sent the kicker in for a 48 yard FG. Yeah.True. Pretty cocky and overly assumptive.

Spawn's dad
True. Pretty cocky and overly assumptive. maybe. I think more likely though he had more faith in his offense making the play than his kickermaking that kick,
stooka
nah. the giants defense owned them. the patriots didn't lose this game, the giants took it. so true some earlier statements about an adequate, but not very good Giants team were ludicrous.
darkstar
Hey Lammy...not raggin' on you or anything but to say thats cocky and whatnot is flat out wrong. It's a 48-49 yd fg which is never a gimmie with a kicker that shanked a kickoff not too too long before. If it was a 40 or less yard attempt I'd say sure kick it, but an almost 50yd fg....I dunno, your too close to punt so why not go for it?
LouieB
Congrats to the Giants. I would love to be a fly on the wall at the Mannings. The Giants pulled this one out of their ass....good work. LouieB
Lammycat
maybe. I think more likely though he had more faith in his offense making the play than his kickermaking that kick,Probably, but he also dismissed a Giant's defense that had been on them all day by not punting. I guess it's a rock and a hard place situation. Hey Lammy...not raggin' on you or anything but to say thats cocky and whatnot is flat out wrong. I was surprised he'd go for it at that point with what the defense had been handing them, I guess.
bjorn_skurj
maybe. I think more likely though he had more faith in his offense making the play than his kickermaking that kick,Yeah. That was a tough call. I might have punted to bury them deep.

I'd be willing to bet that your odds are better getting 3 points from 49 yards than they are for getting a first down on 4th and 11.
MattZ
Belichick was also showing faith in, and challenging, his offense (which let's not forget was one of the all-time best this year). In the end, it came back to bite him, but Belichick has never been the conservative playbook coach. The average coach would kick the field goal there knowing that he could never be criticized for going with the odds. Belichick separates himself from other coaches with decisions like this. And now he has to live with much of the blame. I hate the guy. But I can never fault a coach for believing in his team and challenging them to win. It took guts. I second guessed him at the time. From my couch. Point taken.

Really, it can be looked at either way.

jakobnicholas
Belichick is a piece of crap and I'm SO freakin' glad he lost. He ran to shake hands with Coughlin KNOWING there was a second left. Then a ref even told Belichick there was a second left, and Belichick pretended not to hear him and ran off the field. The guy's a dick. He ran the score up a few times this year. He wears his hoodie sweatshirt to show the world he can wear whatever the hell he wants. He's short with the media on purpose, knowing it pisses them off and makes him look smarter than everyone. And Tom Brady, a good quarterback, is OVER-RATED. Funny how, when he's under pressure, he looks average. I'm a Chiefs fan, and seeing Brady was like watching our rookie Brody Croyle running around all year. Tom Brady is a grea quarterback when he has time, because he's smart and knows where all his recievers are. But he's not a good improviser.

That's why the offensive line has to maintain the pocket for him or there's trouble. That's not a weakness on his part -- he's probably the best pocket passer in the game right now, with the possible exception of Peyton Manning. It's a style of play, not a deficiency. bobbob1313
Manning and Brady can both be beaten by getting pressure on them with only 4 or 5 rushers. This has always been the key to beating them.

ZenLunatic
And Tom Brady, a good quarterback, is OVER-RATED. Funny how, when he's under pressure, he looks average. 3 Superbowl championships, Most TDS in a single season. Perfect 16-0 regular season. Wininng percetage just to be brief. How can he be overrated? He is one of the best out there. 1 Superbowl loss doesnt bring him down much at all.
Sir Stewart
I can understand most of the criticism against Belichick in general, but the whole "running up the score" argument is total bullshit and reeks of crybabyism.
bobbob1313
Perhaps you can be a defensive coordinator in the NFL now. You've unlocked the mystery to shutting down Manning and Brady. Can you argue with what I said? Regardless of how easy it is or isn't to get this done, this has been the only way people have beaten them in the past few years. I've always felt Brady's been an overrated QB. He's maybe a top 10 of all time for me, but that's mostly because I don't really care about how many Super Bowl winning teams a qb has been on when ranking them. Dan Marino is the greatest quarterback I've ever seen, but he played on some awful teams, so he never won one. How can you blame him for that?

Your plan to shut Manning and Brady down is way too simplistic. It says nothing. With Brady, forget the superbowls then. Look at any other stat and where he is in his career. A part of being a great player is winning with bad players. Winning is the key.
