evillguy
So I haven't been active on this board in a few years as I basically lost interest steadily in the post-YHF Wilco. I don't want to start any flame action, but is there any pages or groups out there for wilco fans who still like the band and love the early stuff? I don't want to be pointed to any hate-wilco groups either. Maybe I'm looking for other alt.country bands who are kind of like early wilco.

So I just listen to Drag the River instead.
JUDE
We should start a support group, we could have cool t-shirts and shit.

Lammycat
I'd like a t-shirt, but can we come up with something cooler-sounding than "support group"?How about: "realists?"
Jesusetc84
My Spoon is too big. In all seriousness...AGIB took about a year for me to fall in love with. I hope SBS eventually catches me off guard.

I hope SBS eventually catches me off guard. Can I join the group formerly known as the support group? My feelings for SBS went from lukewarm to non-existent. I listen to A.M. all the time now.  Also, have they played a new song in the past 18 months? I don't mean to say that they constantly need to break out new stuff, but I'm ready to hear what direction they are going in next (because SBS seemed more like a retrenchment). Wasn't there a rumor on this board that they had a whole album of post-SBS material in the can? Let's hear it!

watch me fall
I don't really like On and On and On or Please Be Patient With Me, either. seriously.
bobbob1313
I like pretty much every song on there, but "Leave Me Like You Found Me" is pretty boring. I would say I don't like that one. But all of the others are top notch.

LouieB
Not a big fan of Impossible Germany. While the words themselves are that exciting to me, the guitar work on it is fantastic....what is not to like about any of this stuff? SBS may not be the most earth shattering album ever made, but not much is these days frankly. I think we are in a bit of a lull musically in general. Â LouieB

I'd rather listen to a symphony of popcorn farts than ever hear "Walken" again.Okay, so I am a bit tired of Walken too.....(but ultimately it is a tip of the hat to VC...) Nah I listen to plenty of good music, but reading through the top albums of last year in No Depression, there were a number that were plenty okay (I don't hear them all), but not spectacular. Of course I kept talking about how much I liked the new Joe Henry and most people aren't that interested in it. Radiohead certainly got alot of press, but I have never been that impressed with them anyway. LouieB
BigWheeledWagon
I've been holding out hope that Jeff will return to his roots and recapture the sound of The Primitives. Â No, in all seriousness, I occasionally pine for that earlier Wilco sound, but then I wonder if I would still be into the band if they had just rehashed "Being There" over and over. Maybe Jeff did all he could do with that particular sound, and I enjoy discovering each new phase he enters, even if it presents the possibility of a little disappointment. quarter23cd
I don't really dislike any of those songs. In fact, I really liked the album when it first leaked. Listened to it a ton all spring. But by the time of the actual release date it had kind of faded into a "Gee, that's nice, but I don't feel like listening to it right now" kind of thing for me, and hasn't returned to the rotation. Â I think the last time I listened to Wilco in any form was when I saw them in concert in October. It was a good show, and they have several good albums, I just haven't really been in the mood for any of it lately. No big deal.

froggie
Also, have they played a new song in the past 18 months? new as in "new"?. No, but Too far apart is pretty much a certainty in their shows now... after 7 years of not playing it  I've been holding out hope that Jeff will return to his roots and recapture the sound of The Primitives.  you wanna see Jeff in a dress again, eh? mpolak21
I don't quite listen to Wilco as much as I used to, for awhile I was almost entirely AWATT . Particularly when I started trading the live shows and got ahold of the YHF demos. From 2005 to 2006, they were my definitive favorite band but I got heavily into stuff that I discovered through Wilco, like Sparklehorse, Califone, Jim O'Rourke, Edith Frost, etc and started listening to them less and less. I liked Sky Blue Sky quite a bit when I downloaded the leak of it in March, but I never really obsessively listened to it like I did with Ghost is Born and Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. Â Still, live they are one the best acts around and there are always moments each of their records or performances that I always find myself revisiting and don't think I can ever really be bored by... when Nels comes in for his first solo on Handshake Drugs, Leroy's piano solo on How To Fight Loneliness, all of Sunken Treasure, one of the early "arena rock" versions of Spiders, Bennett's keyboard fills on She's a Jar.... Bored? Never. Â Â Â --Mike
radiokills
i am very bored with ghost and sbs (the boredom for sbs came a little faster though), but everytime i think im getting bored i listen to the first minute of yhf. then the boredom stops.
