trouble with chicago contest

Recommended Posts

Greetings friends,

48 hours later, we've finally got enough caffeine in our systems to cut through the post primary haze. So we figured we'd try to get our first 2008 update in before the buzz wears off.

As you may be aware, this Sunday is the Grammy Awards in L.A. and Wilco are nominated in the category of Best Rock Album for Sky Blue Sky. Not that we condone gambling and the like, but a quick perusal of websites specializing in such things reveals that oddsmakers have Wilco as the longest shot in their category.... as high as 8 to 1. Tune in on Sunday night to see if Wilco can overcome those odds and take home some hardware.

Meanwhile, the band are gearing up to get back on the road after a well-earned break. Next Friday, February 15 they kick of their first tour of '08 with a 5 night residency at the Riviera Theatre in Chicago. At this point, ALL of the U.S. shows are sold out except Des Moines and Mobile, which are getting there. Ticket information is available here.

Those 5 Chicago shows, in which the band will endeavor to perform their entire recorded works, sold out in record time. If you were unlucky or asleep at the keyboard and couldn't get one of the 12,000 tickets, all hope is not lost. How about avoiding the scalpers and brokers and doing a good deed at the same time? For each of the 5 shows, we're going to auction off one opera box. These semi-private elevated boxes include seating for 6 and waiter/waitress service. Also included in each of these "packages" will be two show posters autographed by the band and a gift bag. Information on these charity auctions is available here. Act soon as all will close middle of next week.

Note that the Chicago shows will be "an evening with Wilco" which means no support acts. Set times are Fri-Sat Doors at 7 & Wilco 8:30; Mon- Wed Doors open at 6 & Wilco at 7:30. Also you can request songs for the post Chicago shows by clicking here.

After the US tour, the band will be heading across the international date line for shows in Australia and New Zealand. Click here for info.

It's also time for the annual February sale in the Wilco Store. There are loads of posters/shirts etc. on sale -- lots of em just 15 bucks. Check it out here.

And last but not least; who says February in Chicago is no fun? We are doing a couple of contests that require nothing but entry (note one entry per email address only) by clicking here. Two winners will receive the following cool stuff:

* 2 tickets to see Wilco at the Riviera Theater on Saturday, February 16

* 2 tickets to see the Chicago Blackhawks vs. the Colorado Avalanche on Sunday afternoon, February 17

* 2 nights at the Hard Rock Hotel Chicago (Feb 16 & 17)

* 1 package of Blackhawks and Wilco merchandise

These tickets/packages are NOT transferrable. Special thanks to the Chicago Blackhawks, the Chicago Department of Tourism's Museum of Modern Ice and Jam Productions for help with this contest. Good luck and see you at the Riviera or points east & south.

Yeah - I just tried too and there was no link. I emailed website support about it - but my thought is they sent up the email before checking to make sure the page was up and running.... I just noticed that the newsletter was sent out about 5 minutes ago - so hopefully they're working on it right now!

:)

Glad to hear it's not just me though. I was just very confused and kept thinking - I've only had one beer it can't be this difficult! Then I thought "maybe there's a secret link somewhere". haha. I searched and found nothing.

i refresh and get still nothing. You may win badu2fan because your entry might be the only one received :o

Clicking on the link appears to transmit some unique identification info back to the website. My guess is that clicking the link in the e-mail automatically registers the associated e-mail address for the contest.

The reply that I got was just the body of the email I sent to them. Weird. I'm sure they'll have it fixed for us soon.
