Three dollars and 63 cents
Every time I think he can't possibly amaze me in a new way, he does. That was mind boggling!

ChooChooCharlie
That's me on the left "head-dancing" like an ecstatic idiot :dancing :dancing Met Nels again after the show and he seemed to be genuinely embracing doing some old stuff they never do (like he and Pat's guitar battle on Hoodoo Voodoo). Gotta love how that guy relishes interpreting other people's creations.

yankee
Nels rocks so hard. Every single member of the band sounded great, in fact. And they sound amazing together. I love this lineup!!!!!!
froggie
> I have never had the good fortune to meet Nels, but he strikes me as a humble guy. oh, he is. just talking guitars, and he'll be your best friend
KansasAl
I could listen to him do that solo everyday for the rest of my life and not get sick of it. The guy just rocks.

broc
Nels noodles too much. It wrecked SBS. They'd be a better band if he left.

I've listened to that impossible germany solo - supposedly nels' crowning moment in wilco - a lot and it just does nothing for me just doesn't go anywhere i'm not a huge nels fan. talented guy, just never thought it was a good fit. Were you at these chicago shows? He made so many old songs better imho. Check out the ashes of american flags from friday and you'll see. Also, his work on the older wilco stuff sounded GREAT
TheMaker
I'm of two minds when it comes to Nels. Sometimes I think he turns every Wilco song into the same song, courtesy of the noodly outro, but then he plays something like Why Would You Wanna Live and makes me gape in awe. The guys just need to figure out that a skilled soloist doesn't need to overdo it all the time just because he can. I liked SBS, on which Nels was actually pretty reigned-in, and I think the next record will be even better.
