Mr. Heartbreak
Ace is touring here in FL soon, I may have to drop by. Never saw him solo. That customized Gibson of Uncle Frankie's has got to be what I've loved hearing all these years. I guess I just had "it was a Stratocaster with a whammy bar" in my head. Moe_Syzlak
Speaking of Zappa and the SG, The Dweeze was playing an (the?) SG in '06 when I saw ZpZ and his tone was phenomenal.
mountain bed
Since I just got back home from seeing him I have to mention what a master of tone Robin Trower still is. In a room of 300 he was completely dialed in - stuff like "Bridge of Sighs" and " Islands" were just amazing.

darkstar
Gotta echo Mountainbed with Jerry doin' "the tiger", also Jerry during the jams on Let It Grow circa 1974 some very intense stuff. Also more recently I gotta hand it to Pat doing his fills on Impossible Germany, especially the live version on the SBS bonus EP, really adds to the texture and to me is amazingly beautiful. Also did Nels doing Ashes live at the end.

jff
Speaking of Zappa and the SG, The Dweeze was playing an (the?) SG in '06 when I saw ZpZ and his tone was phenomenal. Yeah, he plays the real thing. Guitar Player did a big cover story on Frank and Dweezil last year. I guess that's one of the few pieces of equipment the Zappa family decided not to sell.
