Sir Stewart
There's a song I'm blanking on - the artist was a dude with a name that I'm confusing with "Edwin McCain" and the song had "girl" in the title, and it was a crooner-type performance (kinda Bowie-esque vocals) with a fuzz guitar hook. It's become an AOR favorite, but when it first came out (96ish?) it was pretty cool.

Edwin Colins "A Girl Like You" form Empire Records Soundtrack Del Amitri rocked too and Nada Surf are severly underapreciated! All 5 of their albums have some wonderful moments!
