American Psycho - Treble Charger (or was that the early 00's?)

Summer Sanders - Daddy's Soul Donut

Standing Outside a Broken Phone Booth - Primitive Radio Gods

Teen Angst - Cracker

Also, PotKettleTug ... Are you thinking of "Super Bon Bon" by Soul Coughing?

I've only met a few other people who got into magnapop. that is cool that you know who they are. I guess they got a little popular in the mid 90's while touring with REM.

I was really into Magnapop and it made me incredibly happy when pneyu listed them too.

most likely yes. I always get those 2 bands mixed up.

Candlebox--Cover Me, Far Behind

Sponge--can't remember the name of the songs but I remember the band for sure

Boom Crash Opera--Onion Skin

World Party--Message in the Box

Lightening Seeds--Pure and Simple

Concrete Blonde--Joey

oh oh collective soul! i used to LOVE them. i hear they're still pretty good but i haven't heard any of their recent stuff.

Yeah, they had a string of radio hits in the mid-90's...didn't "Gel", "Shine", and "Where the River Flows" all come out within like a year of each other?

I haven't heard any of their new stuff, either.

Cool to see Magnapop mentioned. I forgot they had a (pseudo) hit. I used to go see them in Atlanta when they were called Swell. Their bass player currently plays in this group:

Oh yeah, Sunless Saturday. Good one. I don't remember Fight the Youth.

Maybe I'll get that album. Haven't heard it since the year it came out.

I mostly remember them because (1) that was a great song, and (2) Bob Mould produced that album (I think?). Because my brain spent most of the '90s in England (whose one-hit wonders could generate a thread of their own) and the Internet has muddled the collective memory, I can't remember what was and wasn't popular back in the day. Regardless, here are some more:

Michael Penn, "No Myth"

Velocity Girl, "Can't Keep from Smiling"

Folk Implosion, "The Natural One"

Deee-Lite, "Groove Is in the Heart"
