One of the main singer/songwriter guys lived in Gainesville, Florida, and the other in Indianapolis. They maintained separate lineups for live shows. But yes, great band. Sir Stewart
led zeppelin (with mini bonham on drums)Â Â they proved themselves perfectly last decemberAs much as I would love to be in line to enter an arena holding a ticket that reads "LED ZEPPELIN", I think their legacy would be well served if that December show was indeed their triumphant finale. Three dollars and 63 cents
I had fifth row tickets for the Pixies' reunion tour a few years ago, and they canceled that show to go play one in Boston that was recorded for a DVD. I was devastated, because I felt like it was probably going to be my only chance to ever see them. Musically, I think they were very good on that tour, but as was captured on the documentary excellent documentary Loud QUIET Loud, things were really awkward between them. Not tense necessarily, not volatile--just very uncomfortable. Seeing the movie didn't leave me with much hope for a second reunion.

theashtraysays
OK, I stand corrected on the Cheap Trick thing. The last time I saw them was 1980 (true fact).  So if they're still going strong, then why on earth would they hook up with Journey and Heart on this Geritol Reunion Tour? Journey wasn't any good when they were allegedly good. Perhaps the most useless band in history, with the possible exception of Van Halen (ducks). Heart had a couple good songs early, but I saw them on TV a couple weeks ago... hooboy. Is it money? Gotta be money...
Mrs. Peel
Well, ALL (the Scott Reynolds version) is playing Riot Fest in Chicago this October. First show by that line-up since '93-ish (and first show at all since 2001 or so). I know it's not Milo, but ALL are still awesome...  Eh. Not good enough!!! After Milo's B-Side from the last EP is any indication, I don't think he'll be back on stage any time soon. Music was my hobby, something that I did for funNow that it's become a job, the damage has been doneNo amount of money can repair my broken lungsAnd who cares what yer makin' if yer makin' it alone Sick all the time, I miss my wife - I quitGot better things to do with my life - I quitI quit - I quit Go ahead and say it, tell me I'm getting oldTell me I'm a sellout, but it's you that's being soldSee, I refuse to think of rock and roll as my careerTell me all my opportunities, ask me if I care The rock star lifestyle ain't for me - I quitGot somewhere else I'd rather be, so I quitI quit - I quit Go ahead and say it, call me a fuckin' wimpJust cuz I've got a different kind of life that I wanna liveYou can criticize my ideals and my prioritiesBut ultimately I don't give a flying fuck what you think of me I don't believe in that macho shit - I quitI know there's no way you can understand it - I quitSick all the time, I miss my wife - I quitGot better things to do with my life - I quitI quit - I quit What'd ya think, I wanted to be Mick Jagger or something,Playing the pixie at 50 or 60?Gimme a break!I mean,I don't wanna grow up and all that, butThe time has come for me to say'

Perhaps the most useless band in history journey was actually incredible once upon a time long before steve perry joined, they were basically a group of santana sidemen (greg rolie, aynsley dunbar, etc.) i saw them twice during this period and they were phenomenal then perry joined and they spiraled downhill but for a while there, they were a hell of a band

The first album is quite good - Rolie's voice was perfect for that band ("Of a Lifetime" in particular). Too bad they got the lust for hit records.

Gotta be money... I believe a lot of bands from the 70s, as well as, various old metal acts are doing tours like that now. I have often read that those type of bands you mentioned do big business - particularly when they do summer shed tours. I see that STP is back at it now - after Scott was kicked out of Velvet Revolver. Personally, I am not a fan of bands that hire replacements for their former lead singers and then carry on. I was never into Journey, Styx, etc. But millions of people were - so they have a audience to play to. I recall that we had a thread like this once - and there were was some talk about how only bands such as Queen, Styx, etc. do such things - not "cool" bands like the Pixies or whatever. As time passes, we see that everyone will do a reunion - if there is money to be made and some former glory to be relived.
