CortezTheKiller
I took the idea and ran with it over on ninebullets.org (DBT's maessage board). The Top 50 looked like this.
myboyblue
I took the idea and ran with it over on ninebullets.org (DBT's maessage board). The Top 50 looked like this. Â Not too shabby. No Wilco in the top 50 though? Looked like Son Volt, Radiohead, Bruce, Neil and DBT were the only active bands on that list.

Littlebear
I think Neutral Milk Hotel is worth it. I've listened to the second album, and it's arguably one of the best indie records of the 90's.
PopTodd
I think Neutral Milk Hotel is worth it. I've listened to the second album, and it's arguably one of the best indie records of the 90's. Most people seem to either love it or hate it.I am in the "love it" camp -- one of the most-moving listening experiences ever. Not sure what the lyrics actually mean, but I can feel every damn bit of it. (and yeah, here comes the smartass comment about how his voice makes somebody feel pain or something...) uncool2pillow
It's good. IMO (base upon initial listening) good, but not great.
bobbob1313
It'll either hit you like a ton of a bricks about a month from now or you'll forget about it. But do give it another chance in a few weeks.
Littlebear
In my opinion, if he thinks it's good on the first spin, he'll think it's great in a few days. That's how it happened for me.
bobbob1313
I felt almost nothing to it the first few times I listened to it. But then when I went back a few weeks later, it just blew me away.

The fact that there were no Byrds albums and only one Led Zeppelin effort on the list came as a bit of a surprise to me. I would've expected at least one from the former and far more from the latter. Oil Can Boyd
I felt almost nothing to it the first few times I listened to it. But then when I went back a few weeks later, it just blew me away. That's what happened with me. Didn't do much for me after a few listens. One day I found myself humming something from it (King of Carrot Flowers, maybe) so I put it on and loved it.

Jesusetc84
For better or worse absolutely no surprises on the list... I of course disagree with a lot of it (Let it Be higher than Astral Weeks is fucking ridiculous) but whatever. This is the VC, I know what music tastes tend towards, and tend against, and really not a single album on there surprises me.
Jesusetc84
Seems low.  I'd be sad if we lived in a world that I could only find 29 records I like better than Let it Be.
Littlebear
really not a single album on there surprises me. I was pleasantly surprised by the presence of Sam Cooke's Harlem Square Club (a classic, yes, but often forgotten on these kind of lists). And I'd never heard of The Wrens before.

And I'd never heard of The Wrens before. True, Sam Cooke love is ALWAYS good. The Wrens is heh...meh...kind of generic power pop to my ears; some people on the site really love it though. I was also not surprised by the exclusion of classics like Sign o The Times, Hunky Dory, Nevermind, Funhouse, and basically anything that didn't hit sort of VC protocol.
