theashtraysays
Thanks Ditty. It was a splendid show. My first hoodoo voodoo. Plenty of gnats, but no Nudies. ("Put away. On ice.")Yes, we nailed the clapping on Spiders. ("Better than our hometown...")Great banter. Jeff was in good form. ("Keep drinking, sir.")There was one taper, and he said he'd post on etree and here. Got to meet Wendy and Miss Jayne and a couple others... and always good to see MB again. Couple pics attached... it's past my bedtime and I have to drive home early and go to work tomorrow (ignoring Jeff's advice that we should all quit work.) Good nite all... os83
My brother and I were right next to the taper if you're talking about the guy in right side, row G. It was the best Wilco show I've seen so far (out of 3). They were incredible tonight. And I've been laughing the past 3 hours about Tweedy's humor tonight. I loved:"Has anybody else out there gotten a gnat or mosquito down the gullet?""(points to self) About 50. I'm full." Also when he sprayed the DEET and walked right into it, getting it in his eyes. Tossed it back to the woman, apparently must've hit her chest or something and he goes "that was for pegging my guitar"
Painted8
What a great show and a great time. I so love this band. Tweedy was in great spirits last night. The band sounded good from the left GA side of things. My gf gave me good-natured shit because they didn't play Red-Eyed & Blue (one of the few Wilco songs she doesn't like). But anytime I get to hear "Forget the Flowers", I'm happy.
poppydawn
Remember The Mountain Bed This makes me terribly happy. Wish I could have been there!
IndyZen
Here are my quick thoughts from last night
dmait
Great review, Indy. Hope the show at least planted the Wilso seed for your kids. >The Indy Star reviewer compared his playing to the recent guitar work of Radiohead
Duster72
Another great Wilco show. Maybe not quite as good as STL, but very good for an early show on the tour. The Total Pros were an excellent addition and should become a permanent fixture of the live shows. I was pretty annoyed that there was not an event specific poster. Not much more needs to be said. Way better than Radiohead the night before.
mountain bed
Well now. Not an evening I'm likely to forget, for a number of reasons. First off, it was great to see Vince again. Didn't get to see Wendy or Tamala though - sorry we missed you guys! We had 20 folks from home all sitting with us. Wonderful. As soon as I saw Jeff capoed at 3 and heard him strum the opening notes I KNEW. I got my song - many thanks to the band for this, it made me as happy as I've ever been at a Wilco show. Nels was as fierce as I've ever heard him with the band. He tore it up all night, and the Voodoo was a spine-tingler! I'll spare the drama, but there was an issue with one of our contingent - probably have lost a good friend but wtf? A wonderful night of music. Wish I was heading on down south right now! j4lackey
....I was pretty annoyed that there was not an event specific poster. There was supposed to be.
theashtraysays
At 5:30 AM today in Indy, there was this enormous clap of thunder & lightning and it poured down all morning. It was pretty sweet that it didn't show up 8 hours earlier... no rain on teh Wilcos! (Well, except for Alaska...) I was pretty annoyed that there was not an event specific poster.Yeah, I wondered about that, too. I had heard a rumor that there was going to be one for last night, but all I saw was the tour poster.
IndyZen
Misunderstood...thanks. As to my daughters. Abbey, the 17 year old, has great taste in tunes...everything from the Beatles and Bright Eyes to Red Hot Chili Peppers (her favorite band), Lil Wayne and Jason Mraz... and Wilco is one of her faves. So, she enjoyed it a lot. Audrey, my 13 year old, pretty much sticks to top 40 and rap...oh well. Hopefully she will grow into a more musically well rounded young adult. But, my job as a parent is to force her to see real rock shows by real bands playing real instruments so that she can tell all her friends what cruel and unusual punishments we inflict on her poor soul. I mean...this show alone (according to her) provides ample proof of child abuse with charges forthcoming....kids these days, ya can't killem, you can't eat them for breakfast, and you can't make them dance to Heavy Metal Drummer. Oh well.
blindgonzo
glad you all had a great time, and I'm so happy you got to hear your song Mountain Bed! did anyone talk to the band afterwards, or find out if the Total Pros would be along for the whole tour? I would be so excited if they played in Boise and Spokane!

j4lackey
Regarding the Indy poster, the shipment didn't make it to the facility on time. It will be available online soon and can be viewed here.
jcotten
Excellent show lastnight!!! I was disappointed however when I arrived without my camera however.. Did anyone catch the few people in the front section with the recording equipment? I'd love to see/hear what they recorded..Also,as I mentioned I did not bring my camera as I though they were not allowed..Did anyone happen to get any pictures of last night? fif1435
I thought the show was fantastic! I was thrilled to hear Remember the Mountain Bed and Hoodoo Voodoo; two songs I had talked up on the way to the show, hoping they would get played. I took my wife and two of our sons (ages 17 and 15). This was the boys first Wilco show; our (wife and I) third. I really wanted the boys to be excited about this and have a great time. They don't listen to much Wilco, but were familiar with a few songs (Handshake Drugs had become a family favorite, so was also glad to hear that one too). Our 15 year old ended up with an upset stomach as the show started so he was kind of in and out as far as pumped up with excitement. But I prodded him to watch Nels during Impossible Germany, Handshake Drugs and others. The Hoodoo Voodoo battle really got him going. Older son stood during the whole show, as did I. He really thought the Spiders "explosion" after Tweedy led us all with hand claps was extra cool. We had a couple-hour car trip home and, with pitch black skies and lighting flashing constantly all around, we were all settled in our seats quietly watching the display when oldest son blurted out rather loudly, "that was just so cool!!" (referring to the show, not the lightning). Which got us all talking about the show again. Thanks Wilco, for providing for us what's becoming a rare opportunity to enjoy a fabulous experience together. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that some of the Wilco bug will carry on with those two. And 17 year old just told me that he's going to wear his newly purchased Wilco shirt to the first day of classes when school starts back up next week. Wow!
Smokestack Joe
i had a great time. wilco was tight, they were having a good time despite skeeters. good to hear the new songs. loved hearing the old classiscs of AM and Being There. always brings me back to a time. the only thing that blew was the drive from WI, delays in Chicago, delays on I-65 and No Left Lane signs when the lane wasnt closed, it took me 6 hours when it should have taken 4. enjoyed the venue though. great spot. Gorgeous and Alone
Another solid performance from the band. They were all in good cheer and great form.... Nels was playing some fierce guitar and Pat wore his usual "pout." There was a great energy form the crowd too, and the venue was really pleasant. Thanks to Tamala ans Rob for the tickets, and Jen and Chris for sharing your space!
been-to-okemah
Went to the show last night (I've prob been to 12-15 shows at this point) and it was one of the best I've seen. This current lineup just really clicks on stage and musically. Love what Nels brings. His work on Jesus, etc. added so much to the feel of the song. The new songs were a nice "back to the future" look at Wilco's next record. It's definitely what I love about them- is that they are constantly evolving, yet their sound still is distinct to them and relevant. Wilco is by far my fave band and I was absolutely thrilled to find out my seats were IN THE FRONT ROW! In fact, I'm in the first two photos from "theashtraysays" (white ringer shirt). I have no ticket connections, but just purchased them w/in the first 1/2 hour of them gong on sale- and not even the pre-sale. When my wife saw "Row A", she joked that Row A was the front row, right? Never having been to White Lies, we just figured we were in the first row of a middle section. On an even better note, it was our son's first Wilco show. In fact, it was his first concert ever. He's 2. He had a blast. Was dancing with one lady in the front row and mimicking some of the people behind us. He loved clapping along with Jeff, too! I (think I) am attaching a picture of us with Jeff in the background. A dream come true on a perfect night and great performance. One I'll never forget!!
H.Stone
It ended up being a beautiful night, with the perfect breeze throughout the show. RTMB was a treat as was Forget the Flowers and, of course, hearing the two new tunes for the first time. I wished we could have gotten the low-back concert chairs out of the way entirely, but it was a nice atmosphere. Johnny, that poster looks great--I look forward to getting one online. For those interested, Bon Iver's opening set was great. I hadn't seen them since January, and they're so much tighter now. They had some new arrangements, the addition of a bass player, and a new song (Blood Bank). Don't miss them if you're going to SC, FL, or NC.
Tanner
I drove from Milwaukee for Radiohead and Wilco and couldn't have had a better experience in Indy. Both bands left me euphoric and proud to be a music lover. This was my 5th Wilco show, and they are only getting better. The new songs are sounding great, and I'm satisfied with the band's direction. Do whatever you want, Wilco. The only bad part about the trip was sleeping in the back of a Subaru with 5 guys in a Wal Mart and an epic storm Via Chicago on the way home. yamahagrand
Hi again! We saw our 3rd show last night. Saw them at the Murat in Indy last time around and at Purdue U. before that. We took another couple with us to the Murat show time around and had bad seats in the balcony that created a booming issue all night so none of us were real happy about the seats. Fast worward to last night... That same couple came with us as well as another couple. (The 3 of us guys are in a band together and we love to perform Hate it Here) Today I talked for hours with my buds about how great this show was. The singer in our band got to catch his first show and he went on about it all the way home as well as today. He really loved Glenn's drumming. He has only heard 3 or 4 Wilco tunes and commented that it's rare that a band can reel him in on the first go round but Wilco did it. I could go on forever but I'll spare you... The set list was fantastic for our taste!!! I want to thank my close friend Mountain Bed for turning me on to Kicking Television on my 40th Birthday. A great gift from a great friend! I'm listening to the May 15th show at the Pageant right now. Back to work tomorrow after a long weekend off. I couldn't be happier.
