Swim team in tme mid-80's:

a lot of Talking Heads

The Vapors

Led Zeppelin

Meat Puppets (which the coach hated)

That's most of what I remember.

Don't hate on lil wayne! ha. But in all honesty I can see how it'd be good to listen to some of his stuff. My shuffle(which I only use for running/biking) is filled with hip-hop and rock that I would listen to on a much less regular basis, simply because it's more rhythmic and I can push harder listening to something like Lil Wayne than I could listening to Damien Rice or Wilco

This is sort of off topic but i'm kind of curious. What would you guys listen to if you want to get "pumped up"?

Golden Earring --- Radar Love

Meatloaf --- Bat out of Hell

Bruce Springsteen --- Further on up the Road

Hell, I'm a governmental property appraiser...I don't get pumped up.

I was kind of hoping for some indie rock on his playlist. Not garbage... and yes... Coldplay would have been much more welcome. "Viva La Vida" could do the job just fine over Young Sleezy or Lay-Z

My current running list is:

Arcade Fire - Neighborhood #3 (Power Out)

The Clash - Clampdown

Elvis Costello - Pump It Up

Jesus & Mary Chain - All Things Must Pass

KOL - Molly's Chambers

Gang of Four - Damaged Goods

Bloc Party - Hunting for Witches

Datarock - Fa-Fa-FA

Spoon - You Got Yr Cherry Bomb

Fly Around my pretty Little Miss - Built to Spill

Peacebone - Animal Collective

Vanishing Spies - Frank Black

Transdermal Celebration - Ween

Right before a race I always listen to "Winters Love" by Animal Collective.

Tough for me to listen to that song now, so emotional it gets me so fired up.

I can only listen to it once every few months

Strange may it be, but I can listen to virtually anything while I work out. Like, I've listened to the Byrds' Sweetheart of the Rodeo while lifting weights. Yeah, I know... :unsure

Mostly what I end up hankering for, most usually it's Uncle Tupelo (mostly No Depression and Still Feel Gone), once it was the Minutement (Double Nickels On the Dime). I also have this weird sort of "only listen to albums" thing with working out that carried over from doing that on a non-exercising basis.
