redpillbox
I read somewhere on the interweb that Marky Mark was actually quite pissed about the Talks to the Animals skit. He came on the show this Saturday and, I thought, was very funny...very good-humored about the whole thing and even told a donkey to say hello to his mother for him...Sarah Palin on the other hand, looked painfully uncomfortable. uncool2pillow
Sarah Palin on the other hand, looked painfully uncomfortable.Really? I thought she looked like she was having a blast during the Weekend Update rap. I don't know if it's because she has a sense of humor about herself or because she didn't realize how much fun was being poked at her, but regardless, I didn't see discomfort. The guy with the goatee and the snowmobile suit was hilarious!
Oil Can Boyd
I read somewhere on the interweb that Marky Mark was actually quite pissed about the Talks to the Animals skit.I heard that too. Someone told me they saw him on Jimmy Kimmel and he was not amused. My theory is that someone filled him in that lots of people found the skit really funny and that he was going to look like a jackass if he kept being pissed off about it. Andy Kaufman and Jerry Lawler--that sort of thing. Acting. Also like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-PZNfOZXPJk

mountain bed
I thought the Biden/Murtha opening skit was pretty damn funny last Saturday night. They took Senator Joe to the logical comic extreme.
GtrPlyr
It was good to see Jon Hamm hosting. Hopefully this will get more people watching Mad Men, which happens to be the best show on TV right now.
Analogman
McCain set for 'Saturday Night Live' cameo1 hour and 9 minutes ago My friends, it's John McCain, live from New York, just three days before the election. Aides to the Republican presidential candidate said Friday that McCain will make a detour from battleground states to appear on "Saturday Night Live," the late-night show that has been a must-watch for many during the political season. Hosting the show this Saturday is actor Ben Affleck, a supporter of Democratic candidate Barack Obama. The musical guest is singer David Cook. When McCain's running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, appeared on the show Oct. 18, "Saturday Night Live" earned its best ratings in 14 years. Former star and head writer Tina Fey, a Palin lookalike, has been at the center of the show's recent parodies of the campaign. "SNL" regular Darrell Hammond impersonates McCain on the late-night show, now in its 34th season. McCain last appeared on "Saturday Night Live" in May, after clinching the nomination and while the Democratic primary continued. The 72-year-old Arizona senator joked about his age, saying: "I ask you, what should we be looking for in our next president? Certainly, someone who is very, very, very old." When McCain hosted "SNL" in 2002, he mocked singer Barbra Streisand's political advocacy by performing a medley of her songs. Obama appeared on "Saturday Night Live" briefly last season but canceled a return for its season opener in September, citing the devastation brought to parts of the country by Hurricane Ike. OOO
I thought the McCain QVC ad thing was very funny. Even though I know its all part of a calculated gameplan to win over voters, I like it when candidates make fun of themselves. The weekend update skit was sort of weak though. Cindy as the QVC model was great. She may have another career on her hands. Although her expression seemed so blank I wondered if she had fallen off the pain pill wagon. Beltmann
I thought the skewering of Olbermann was decently funny. Actually, it was pretty scathing.I enjoy Olbermann's show, but his smug, self-righteous indignation is ripe for satire. I thought the skit was damn funny. Here's an that tries the same approach. Mildly amusing.
ih8music
I'm an Olbermann fan and I thought Affleck's impersonation of him was hilarious. Especially the Special Comment, where he had KO's mannerisms and overall pacing down perfectly.

jakobnicholas
The QVC bit was very clever. Olberman's impersonation wasn't super, but it was a pretty good skit. I can't stand Olberman, so it was fun to see him get poked fun of. My favorite was Kristin Wiig's Target cashier. To me, she's the funniest and most talented cast member. Her aunt character during the News was funny as well.
Sir Stewart
I agree that Wiig is great, but I don't get why the Target character or Amy's aunt are recurring characters. I guess I have a problem with recurring characters. Her character in that skit a few eps ago - the friend at the Asian restaurant who couldn't contain her excitement at the impending marriage proposal - was fucking hilarious. And her Pelosi is awesome.

myboyblue
... - the friend at the Asian restaurant who couldn't contain her excitement at the impending marriage proposal - was fucking hilarious. And her Pelosi is awesome. That was a recurring character as well. I know I've seen it at least once before. Yes, pretty funny. SNL has a long history of turning anything that gets a good laugh into a recurring character. I don't share the same love for Wiig. I find her act to be a bit thin and repetitive with some overlap between characters. She definitely has some funny moments but if SNL is looking to move her towards the 'go-to' ensemble member, it's going to be tough. I prefer Amy Poehler and I know she's leaving. Elixir Sue
Ha - oh well, maybe I just have a problem with the Target and aunt characters. Those annoy the hell out of me. For the most part, I'm not a fan of Kristin Wiig, but her Suze Orman cracks me up.

jakobnicholas
SNL was good Saturday night. Neil Patrick Harris (Doogie Howser) hosted. They did a funny short where Harris (on keyboards) and others played the Doogie Howser theme song....as if it was a serious orchestral presentation. Kristin Wiig was awesome, yet again. She played Kathy Lee Gifford on the morning show, which was really funny. To me, she's become the reason to watch SNL. She was really good in a couple other skits also. I also liked the skit about Broadway shutting down theatres, the Frost/Nixon ad parody, and Will Forte's mocking song about why he likes the BCS College Championship set up. Some of these are on the NBC website. The lamest thing of the night was the music (Taylor Swift).
