PigSooie
http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2009/...aking-decision/ ** In addition to Kentucky, Arizona came after him over the weekend offering not a salary but a blank check. Calipari said, "No thanks."

PigSooie
Nolan Richardson is on Memphis sports radio saying he wants the Memphis job. Please no. Hell no.
PigSooie
Arizona search is focusing on Few Arizona's coaching search is now centered on Gonzaga's Mark Few. Multiple sources told CBSSports.com that Arizona used third-party representatives to gauge the interest of Few as early as November at the Old Spice Classic, and that informal conversations continued this past weekend, right after North Carolina eliminated Gonzaga from the NCAA tournament. One source put it simply: "This is Few's job if he wants it." But does Few want it? A source told CBSSports.com that Few is intrigued by the tradition of Arizona, but that he would have reservations about taking over a situation that could be similar to what Tom Crean inherited at Indiana. In other words, Few has never done anything but win in 10 seasons at Gonzaga, and so losing game after game next season because of a program that has been decimated by departures and a lack of recruiting is something he might balk at. Also, Few could be hesitant about taking over at Arizona given that there's an ongoing NCAA investigation. But sources insisted that he'll listen, and that Arizona is talking. fatheadfred
Memphis folks are treating this like a funeral. It's hilarious. I read a comment on the Commercial that went a little something like this, "never trusted a greasy haired yankee that promises you the world." That GQ article on Worldwide Wes made me feel dirty. Sounds like a slick character.
Gobias Industries
That Wes guy is shifty as hell. I just hope Calipari doesn't get roasted like Gillespie did. Should be inneresting.
theashtraysays
So, is it "Cahl - uh - PAHR -ee" (rhymes with Italian squid calimari). or is it "Cal - uh - PAIR - ee" (kinda like a partridge in a pear tree)... ? We'll need to know that. Not that we'll say it right, mind you. We pronounce the city in the next county "Vur -sales" (Versailles).

PigSooie
Free parking and free entrance for final practice. Is anyone coming to town for this? Its really pretty awesome, downtown is buzzing. I don;t think I'll be able to make this.
dondoboy
I can't decide whether to go downtown or just watch at the bar down the street. Anywhere within 15 miles is going to be kind of crazy.
dondoboy
Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! The town is completely buzzing. This is great.
Gobias Industries
Go Michigan State, if only for the sake of my bracket. But I support my Big Ten.
dondoboy
Alright, approx. 1 hour away from the first game. Predictions? Michigan St. over UConn (Long shot, but hey, I'm in Michigan) UNC over Villanova (But I wish it were the other way around) I will report all gun play, 'cause there's going to be a lot of shots fired in the air if MSU wins or not. Well, its Saturday, there's always quite a few every Saturday night.
Gobias Industries
I have MSU over UConn, and UNC over Nova. I don't think Nova has much of a chance unless the bird flu hinders the entire UNC squad. MSU has a good shot to win, Thabeet is a terrible shooter despite his rebound potential.
bakerian08
it seems like a lot of people want UConn to lose.
cryptique
it seems like a lot of people want UConn to lose. Not me. I usually support the Big Ten, but I make an exception when it's those guys.
dondoboy
Pretty tight so far. Weird fouling there towards the end. If you watched close you could see Izzo tell the ref to "..watch that m.f" Here we go.
bakerian08
UConn is playing terrible in this half.
cryptique
I put this one on Calhoun. Those kids tried to run with State, and that's the one thing they can't do. The whole second half, they tried to push the ball up the floor, and it usually ended in one of their guards completely forgetting that he had four teammates and forcing up a bad shot. UConn is the better team if they maintain their discipline and run their offense, but that transition stuff wasn't working for them and Calhoun should have called timeout with about ten minutes left (or even earlier) and put a stop to it. He never did, and that's why they lost ... in my opinion. Fuck. Now I have to endure the idiot State fans crowing about this shit at my office. They're a bunch of morons.
