Dr. Steve Brule
Just listened to the single. I love Will Oldham, but I don't like the chick vocals on every track lately. I hope the whole album isn't like this. Reportedly that song is NOT on the album. I'm hoping he was getting the pretty stuff out of the way.
Killer Whales
http://www.youaintnopicasso.com/2009/01/13...nt-hurt-me-now/ There's a solo acoustic performance of You Can't Hurt Me Now from Beware and it's absolutely stunning. He also does a beautiful reading of The Brute Choir and a pretty cool interview. Well worth checking out

Papillon Parade
If you like Will Oldham as an actor you should check out: Old Joy Complete with an original soundtrack by Yo La Tengo. Why, oh why, can't he slip a maritime date in that tour.
rsjbraz
Beware is absolutely awful, the worst thing he has done by a long mile, imagine the worst bits of Lie Down In The Light (I like most of it at lot), remove any semblance of a song and then add more hokey fiddles and you'll come close. If he's been working on this for three years then its time well wasted! A massive disappointmentThis review sums it up perfectlyhttp://drownedinsound.com/releases/13960/reviews/4136223 The new Bill Callahan bodes much better!!

Killer Whales
Yeah, I love Nashville Skyline, and I thought the upbeat songs were some of the best ones on Lie Down in the Light, so I'm really looking forward to this

lizish
Tried reading the DIS article and quickly got turned off. Not the best writing. Heard about the Will Oldham New Yorker profile and have finally caught up with it: http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2009/01...currentPage=all

Killer Whales
yeah, those are just the most up to date full listing i could find I kind of stumbled upon the Boston date anyway.. he should really make a formal announcement because there's no way he's selling out the 1000-seat Wilbur Theater in Boston without any kind of press release

Strange - the Boston and Montreal shows in May are not listed there either. I guess it's part of the quirky 'Don't do publicity or interviews' thing.

Kalle
Ok just finished my first listen. People were talking about all the new instruments and stuff he was using and really it doesn't seem all that different from previous records of his in that sense but it is very similar in the sense that on the first listen you really have no clue if it's genius or not. Maybe its just me but his records always take a while for the tunes to show themselves, but when they do oh oh how I love them.
