gonna' say it's probably my favorite album of 2009 so far.

damn this IS really good... Merge is usually pretty spot on

 

now i'm bummed i didn't check them out in Austin last week :/

 

they're coming to town in a week with Say Hi but i'm already going to Heartless Bastards & Gaslight Anthem that night.

the album is actually all done by one dude and he is touring w/ an actual band. i love it, eclectic power pop...the whole thing is solid, but i will agree that 'lightning' track is my least favorite of the bunch.

i believe some of the production was done by chris walla of death cab. funny enough, i'm not a huge death cab fan...but i like this.

 

it doesn't sound TOO much like Death Cab to me and i was a pretty big fan up until Plans. i'd say it reminds me of The Shins more than Death Cab, at least musically.
