Analogman
That's cool. Let someone else have it. Or donate it to a library.
calvino
You are sure pushing libraries today, A-Man. I have it on request from my library system - it's in transit. I read the Skydog book - it's the only Allman Brother book that I read.
Analogman
Story of my life - I've read that one and Midnight Riders: The Story of The Allman Brothers Band. I guess Duane's daughter has a book out also. I don't think I will read that one.
BobLamonta
If that freebie copy of the ABB book is still up for grabs, I'll gladly take it. Like most, the announcement of their impending retirement has renewed my interest a bit.

jff
I would've tried to grab that book, but I've already read Skydog, Gregg's book, and Midnight Riders. I'll probably get this for my Kindle eventually. Nice of you to offer it up for free, Oil Can.
Shug
Listening to Idlewild South at lunch today. Please Call Home is such a great great song. A nice strong soulful piano ballad with incredible vocals from Gregg. That dude could really sing R&B in his day, truly one of the great blue-eyed soul singers, I'd say. worldrecordplayer
Any VC'ers making it to the final Beacon run? I've got tickets for the 25th. Starts tonight, the 25th seems like a long way away.

I keep a lot of books but I also donate some to my local library (and they sell them to make money for the library). I figured this one could find a good home here. We went last year for my first time ever in NYC. We took our 13 year old son, a guitar player, he loved the entire experience, although we had to caffienate him so he could rock out for that long! Parents-of-the-year, I know. We got to meet Jaimoe and the roadies were really nice to our son. A great time. I hope Dickey sits in this year. Even if not, it feels like its gonna be an extra special run. Have an awesome time!
RaspberryJam
My husband and his buddies go on their annual trip next weekend, so that's 2 nights for him. I also am holding a really choice single ticket for the last night, that I bought because we had another night for the presale. But I'm not sure what we are going to do with it. I may have to fight my husband for it, or we may sell it to pay for his entire trip next weekend. It seems like a shame to let it go though, especially the last night. Analogman
Butch is always good with the PR: By the way, was my initial presumption wrong? Is this indeed for all intents and purposes the final Allman Brothers Band Beacon Theatre run?I don’t know yet. There is a possibility that we will continue in another form. The band as it is now is not going to continue. The changes that we’re talking about would be incredible but it would be different instrumentation, a different sound. It’s like what we did with Chuck Leavell after Duane and took it in another direction for a little while.

Fight your husband for it, he's already seeing 2 shows Just saw Relix posted Butch said they're going to do some touring in October and then wrap up the year with a show at MSG. Analogman
If you wan to read it, Alan Paul did a IAMA on Reddit: Allman Brothers Band biographer, Alan Paul, author of "One Way Out". AMA about the ABB, blues, 70s rock, guitars or even living in China!

Analogman
I grabbed this yesterday at B&N for about 18 bucks. I can see that due to the spacing on the pages it is a lot thinner that I thought it was going to be.

linclink
I've always wanted to catch ABB & never have...I love Derek Trucks but have never seen him. Jeff Tweedy is playing solo at Mountain Jam and The Tedesci-Trucks Band being there was the next most interesting thing to me...now thatDerek Trucks factor has doubled as The Allman Brothers have been added as a headliner & they are playing both "Idlewild South" & "The Allman Brothers Band" (their first two albums) in their entirety. This ups the ante a-plenty for me. I just hope that Jeff solo & Tedesci-Trucks Band get long sets, and/or headliner status. My other hope is that if Bob Weir drops in for anything on Jeff's set, then maybe Jeff would do do one with Ratdog.

You shouldn't go through life without getting to see Derek and Warren play together. Chances are dwindling.

Chances are dwindling.I'm kind of waiting it out to see if...1) Jeff is playing any other east coast solo acoustic dates (Mt. Jam could be a shorter set, & not a full show)... 2) If The Allman Brothers are going to be any closer (Mt. Jam is a good 4 hrs. one way, 8 hrs. round trip), but... I am planning on seeing The Allman Bros. this tour for sure...and Derek Trucks any chance I get...and if Mt. Jam is the only place Jeff ends up around here, we'll more than likely try to make the trek. If we do go, I sure hope Jeff ends up playing either the same day as ABB or the same as Tedesci-Trucks... Being that it's the final year, and I'm not making it to JazzFest this year, buddy and I decided to see as many Allmans shows as we can (live in Boston), so going to the Beacon for 1 show and made the plunge to go to Lockn Festival in VA September 4-7. Allmans playing one night there, with 2 nights of Phil and Friends, 2 nights of Widespread (with Stevie Winwood) and 2 nights of Ratdog. I'm figuring Warren/Mule and Derek/Susan likely to be added since the Allmans are already there.

I'll bet Jaimoe got one hell of a workout holding it down by himself.
