Wilmington is basically Philly..

not quite the same market size as Cary/Raleigh

Meaning the Philly area is much larger than the Raleigh area.

Still, the two shows kicking off the spring tour in '06 were on the UNC campus and sold out in snap. A show during the school year will sell quickly.

my assumption/hunch/fear was correct. :(

Roy Wilkins is one of the worst sounding venues i've ever attended a concert at (yes, worse than Eagles Ballroom)

That said, a good sound person can make it sound tolerable/good if they know what they're doing (see: Arcade Fire)

i'm glad they're coming back, but it's fairly bittersweet.

edit: I already have tickets for Tortoise @ The Cedar that night... *sigh* :ohwell

Any idea what month they will be doing their week long residency?

[lie]Between the Chicago and St. Louis dates, they'll be doing a week-long residency at the Fillmore in SF. Opening acts will include the Nels Cline Singers, the Autumn Defense, Pronto, and Jim O'Rourke flying in for a Loose Fur set.[/lie]

I was right there with you. WTF, why post that?

Until I saw the lie disclaimer, I almost booked hotel/airfair.

Wouldnt that be the best show ever???

I should have asked Pat about more Autumn Defense after Lewiston. Or John.

Belgium ! yeeehaaa :w00t !

The band playing at the Ancienne Belgique in Brussels = my backyard :dancing .

Wilco must love my tiny country : 3 gigs in 2007, 2 in 2009 (so far ;) ).

Sam

Could be the Beer, Chocolate and Waffles bring them back time and time again! Yum! :cheers

does Florida get ANY good shows, really?

The triumvirate of Scottish indie rockers (We Were Promised Jetpacks, Frightened Rabbit, The Twilight Sad) are making two Florida stops on their fall US tour. Those are going to be INCREDIBLE shows...but I'll restrain myself and keep to the thread topic.

For those of you willing to make the trip, The Crossroads in KCMO is completely worth it. As a KCMO resident, I can tell you that this is a great place to see Wilco. Wilco's last appearance in KC was at this venue on 10/13/2007 [a solid recording of this exists, by the way] and it was a complete blast. They played the same night the Sprint Center/Arena opened in KC and Elton John was playing, but Wilco still packed the place and Tweedy made great stage banter all night about Elton John "sucking." Anyway, click on the link in my signature and check out the setlist from that night. A-mazing.

Now I'm sad; if I get this job I'm interviewing for next week, I'll be moving out east and will likely miss this show. Just missed all of the eastern shows... :punch
