Gabe32
it's cool this guy is a tweedy fan but ... those are ridiculous choices. if they are ranking them in order of importance in tweedy's career, i can definitely see the long cut being pretty significant... and maybe even it's just that simple. but promising doesn't deserve to be there. if they are ranking them in terms of music/lyrics, i don't think any of those are even close to his later works (ie muzzle of bees, i am trying to break your heart). unless this guy is just listing is favorite 20 songs. in which case that makes sense. Guest Speed Racer
Not sure which songs qualify (Mermaid songs?) I'd like to think Mermaid Songs wouldn't qualify. He's 100% written/co-written enough good lyrics that I don't think any of his musical contributions on the Mermaid songs would make up for that, proportionally, if that makes sense. That being said, what strikes me as weirder than the song selections so far are the key lyrics the other has chosen. For none of those songs would I have chosen those couplets as key lyrics - and not in a "why didn't I think of that?" sort of way, but in a "god, that's asinine" sort of way. Plus, they got She's A Jar wrong: "Key lyric: “She says forever, to light a fuse, we could use a day off, and a handful of wheel, however you might feel, tonight is real.”How could they leave out "and a bruised road" - one of Tweedy's single best lines ever.
