mountain bed
This is a wonderful post. My first thought as well, M(. Well done, Shoes.
awatt
Not sure what to say. Awesome doesn't quite capture it. Magical maybe. It was a great show and very nice to meet and chat with Jeff after. So many highlights but was shocked and nearly in tears when he played Box Full of Letters after I rudely yelled out the request. Glad he also played other spontaneous requests as well, Theologians and Airline to Heaven. I tried not to get too carried away in such a nice, low-key, informal setting, but did shout for No Sense in Lovin and Radio King, to no avail. Made me want to get home and watch Sunken Treasure. Chicago is definitely one of my favorite cities.
Via Harvard
What a wonderful experience all around. I thought it was a great setting for a show and Sue couldn't have been nicer when taking requests. I was SO HAPPY when he played "So Much Wine" as that was my only request. I requested that one for my wife. Anyways, loved the Sunken Treasure/Mountain Bed beginning, I don't think he could have started with two better songs. Well worth it, great times...Oh, and Goose Island to boot!
Triple A
My wife and I loved the show, too. We felt kind of goofy going through the meet/greet line but Jeff was a great sport. The set brimmed with great selections. It was a real treat. My favorite banter of the night was when he pointed out that he and Susan celebrated their anniversary, that he'd put a bunch of love songs into the set and then basically invited a little peer pressure for romance by noting -- "the kids are at camp...I'm leaving on tour in a couple of days..." before giving in with a "not a chance." It was pretty cute. Here's a picture of the songs Jeff seemed to use as a very tentative roadmap. The selection process seemed pretty freewheeling, which made it all the more impressive and fun. Tommy74
What a great picture. When Susan came around asking for requests, I originally asked for The Ruling Class, then changed my mind to Solitaire. While riding back on the CTA I thought that I should have asked for Be Not So Fearful...and there it was on the list..arghhh....great show. I agree the meet and greet felt as awkward as Jeff looked. But my fiancee got our photo op which is now prominently displayed on the mantle. My wife and I loved the show, too. Nice to meet you too! Glad to hear that you had a good time in Chicago. That was an awful fun show. We are lucky in Chicago to have the shot at these kind of shows a few times a year, at least lately. Looking forward to the next one!
IRememberDBoon
Long Time Ago??!!
LouisvilleGreg
Long Time Ago??!! Might've been the highlight of the night, but Someday Some Morning Sometime was a pretty deep cut as well. I was about 4 rows back in the second section and it really didn't matter. A very intimate venue for certain. Hell of a show.

Shakespeare In The Alley
wow dick maybe you could have just answered the question?I'm a dick? You mentioned not seeing anything about the show here, so I pointed out the pre-show thread. That one and this one give pretty good indications of how many people were there. If you want such an easy question answered, try putting a little bit of effort into reading the forum.
terrapin
Just curious, how many people were there? This seemed super low key. I got a random email about it but didnt see any mention of it the week of the onsale on here and no mention afterwards. unfortunately I had to work From my vantage point (back section), the house seemed 75-80% full. There was a large section of empties near me (40-50 seats) in the second section and a lot of scattered empties. I agree that the show was under-advertised. The school benefit shows get close to sold out at the Vic and have higher ticket prices. There was no listing on Wilcoworld either that I saw.
Dude
Peter Grosz was excellent by the way... Agreed. I thought the back and forth ball-busting between Peter (ripping on the self-titled album and "82 former members of Wilco") and Jeff (calling him the "burger commercial guy") was pretty hilarious. Guest Jules
I'd say attendance was in the 500-750 range.
HelloNinja
I believe they sold around 700 tickets. I know they had very little money in their advertising budget so they couldn't get the word out as much as they'd have liked. They tried to get ads in the Red Eye and Reader but they were just too spendy. I had a blast volunteering for the event. I'm sure most of you saw me. I was the big guy w/ glasses doing "line management" which basically meant "Stand around outside and stare at everybody in line."
Bhickman
I liked Peter's joke that at one point, Jeff wasn't even in Wilco anymore.
Dude
This was a pretty guitar: and apparently it's a pretty rare one - a 1930s Gibson Kel Kroydon. Anyone have $5,500 lying around? http://www.gbase.com/gear/kel-kroydon-gibson-l-00-1934-natural-birds
