nodep5
Well my view on this was short lived, I listened to Vetiver's Tight Knit last night and some of I & W's Around the Well and I don't know, I keep going back to those two also. Who knows? I still haven't had that one album that just floored me completely.

cryptique
Time to replace that leak. I thought the same thing when I saw that. The name of the album is Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit.
bleedorange
Off the top of my head, I would probably put these ahead of (the album) (subject to change): Animal Collective - Merriweather Post PavilionThe Big Pink - A Brief History of LoveCalifone - All My Friends are Funeral SingersDirty Projectors - Bitte OrcaGirls - AlbumGrizzly Bear - VeckatimestThe Love Language - s/tMicachu & the Shapes - JewellreyNeko Case - Middle CyclonePassion Pit - MannersPhoenix - Wolfgang Amadeus PhoenixUUVVWWZ - s/tWhite Rabbits - It's FrighteningWhy? - Eskimo SnowThe xx - xxYACHT - See Mystery Lights So, it'll probably fall within the top 15-20 for me. Moss
Time to replace that leak. Now that's funny. Actually I really do have the CD and went out and bought the first album as well so I have a clear conscience. It will always be Seven mile island to me though. Moss
Oh yeah, I forgot the Decemberists on my list.
MrMilk
I implore you to check out the new Camera Obscura album *swoons* And WTA is/was a bit of a disappointment. Not terrible, but Wilco can definitely do better
Guest Jesus Etc
Although much different than Wilco, Japandroids album is fucking awesome. Garage Rock/Noise Band consisting of two members from Seattle bring it hard. Check it out.
imsjry
One Fast Move or Iam Gone- Jay Farrar and Ben Gibbard This is the correct answer. Nothing comes close.
HungryHippo
overall, W(TA) is going to be an album I return to for the rest of my life. the majority of what was released this year will, more than likely, be forgotten within a year by me, except that new Mountain Goats record, that bad boy is hardcore good. 2009 seems to have been the year of reissues for me...Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Joseph Arthur, etc. haven't done a good job with keeping up with this year's new stuff. othersongs
A mediocre wilco album is a career highlight album for any other band. I give WTA #1 spot slightly ahead of kings of convenience and grizzly bear.
Bhickman
I'm not sure what will ultimately be #1 for this year. I know that Art Brut, Wilco, Flaming Lips, On Fillmore, Califone, Smokey Hormel, Mew, Pronto, Dead Weather, St. Vincent, Moby all will be in my top 25.
Three dollars and 63 cents
I'm not even sure if W(TA) will make it to my top five by year's end. There have just been so many good albums this year. As of now, my top three in no particular order are Sonic Youth's The Eternal, Nels's Coward, and Evangelista's Prince of Truth. othersongs
Do u think they will do a companion EP for W(TA)? Like a tour ep? I hope so.
twigboyjoe
I'm useless at remembering what came out when but if Elvis Perkins was this year, then I second the shout for that. Wilco is up there too, as is Phoenix & Decemberists which have both had worthy shouts. Other than that, I'm gonna have to check some sleevenotes / refresh my memory to make a well informed judgement. TCP
Magnolia Electric Co's Josephine wins it for me. Both the Wilco and Andrew Bird albums I thought were good.I also listened to Dark Was The Night a lot this year. Pretty good stuff.
