Mr. Kinsley
After saturday night I completed a silly goal I set out for myself back in January 2000. I have now seen at least 1 concert a month the whole decade (yes I keep a list). Actually right now I have seen one a month since April 98...I don't know what to make of it!?Now my next goal is to visit all 50 states...at 49...I am going to try my absolute hardest to make it to NORTH DAKOTA before I turn 30 in August! I want to see the list. I keep lists for every movie that I see in a theater. It helps me to remember certain things. I should do lists for concerts that I've seen, but as of yet (?) I don't go to many anymore. Goals: i go to the gym almost every day. I learned how to spell Connecticut. These two posts would be the greatest entries in the history of this board if:1) remphish lived in South Dakota2) u2roolz lived in Connecticut

Albuquerque took me forever to learn how to spell, on a completely non-geographically related note.

mountain bed
Dude, you can just buy acid. No need to go to all that trouble. (Congrats!) That was my first thought as well. But - since you got the degree you could use me for a guinea pig.
TheMaker
After years of honing my skills, I finally became a legitimate comic book artist in '07, with a number of decent publishers notched onto my belt. The goal for next decade is to secure my rep and become more ambitious in my networking so that I never have to work a crappy day job again. I'm seriously hoping that won't take seven years... I finally saw Dylan live this decade. I don't really care for what he's doing these days, but it was something I felt compelled to do. Next decade? Tom Waits. Maybe he'll finally get over his irrational hatred of the east coast and actually play a show in Toronto or New York instead of a cluster of gigs in Stumblefuck, NM and Arid, AZ. (Not that I'm bitter.) I found love and lost it, twice. Next decade? Find it and keep it! I kinda like that all of my goals lead directly to new ones. Life is interesting, if nothing else! Beltmann
I keep lists for every movie that I see in a theater. It helps me to remember certain things. I do that, too. I started keeping track many years ago when I was still reviewing movies for a newspaper, and had practical reasons for not forgetting--things like year-end best lists, director comparisons, etc.--and just never stopped. I actually log in a database every movie I see, whether in the theater or on DVD. It's a useful resource for someone who writes about movies (and I do still produce occasional pieces). I keep it simple, though, so that the cataloging/indexing never becomes an albatross! One year, I saw 556 different movies (but that includes short and experimental works). Guest Speed Racer
This week I went on the first run in three months. It was the first break from running longer than two weeks that I have taken in this decade. The break was injury-related, but I'll be damned if I can take a break like that again. It's coming back to me, but I was sucking wind at the beginning of the week.

I use Word Perfect (I really like the layout) and just switched to Microsoft Word (Mac). Tough to get used to it. I would like to try an excel spreadsheet at some point. I'm also setting out to write at least 2 scripts this coming year and prepare 2 older ideas into outlines and character building etc. It's funny and odd that you used the word albatross, as that's one of the character's last names in one of my ideas floating in my head. I'd also like to speak to some people on here about Minnesota for one of my ideas. I have what I think is a pretty neat idea for a modern day film noir set in Minnesota. How do you do your director comparisons? I usually do my "Best Of" lists by season, so it's easier to make an "official" list at year end. I break the year up into 3 units (Jan-April, May-Aug, Sept-Dec).

I would like to try an excel spreadsheet at some point.I use Microsoft Access (although the database actually originated in LotusWorks, which tells you how long ago I started cataloging this stuff!). I have no idea whether Access is a quality choice--I use it because I always have, and after nearly 20 years of adding data I'm pretty much stuck with it. How do you do your director comparisons? I usually do my "Best Of" lists by season, so it's easier to make an "official" list at year end. I break the year up into 3 units (Jan-April, May-Aug, Sept-Dec).Each database entry lists various elements which can then be individually sorted, such as director, year, or country. For example, I can use the index feature to show only the entries by, say, Scorsese, and then sort that narrow list by year or any other element. It's very simple, actually. There's nothing fancy about the design at all. Like I said, it's strictly for quick reference purposes.
mfwahl
I'm training to run the Georgia Marathon in March and I haven't fucked up my training schedule yet. So that's something. Running 8 miles tomorrow.
Guest Speed Racer
I'm training to run the Georgia Marathon in March and I haven't fucked up my training schedule yet. So that's something. Running 8 miles tomorrow. Have fun! The training has always been way harder than the race, in my opinion. This year I had the joy of doing all the training right up to the last 20-miler before I finally acknowledged that the race would really mess with my already-injured foot. Sigh...
