So the news it out that the album will be released on May 18th, however the odd thing is, is that no one can confirm what record label it will come out on. So first of all, I will be shocked if we see it on May 18th and secondly what happened to Sub Pop?

Sub Pop has lost the Shins and now potentially Band of Horses. If I were in a band I would love to be on Sub Pop (from the perspective I have). They are great about their vinyl and vinyl prices, the have a certain cred and name recognition. Other great bands on the label. What is going on?

I will be seeing them live on 3/16, can't wait. Since this is a Band of Horses thread I feel I can ask, does anybody know why they named that beautiful song "Detlef Shrempf". I know who Detlef is, just having a hard time equating him with the song.

I have always wondered that myself!

I hope they do a full tour for the new album. I know they have added some Florida dates in April but they're just not feasible for me. I hate that, too, because one of my fave local bands is opening for them (Josh Roberts and the Hinges).

Also, my brother has the cutest video of my 4 year old niece singing The Great Salt Lake in the car. She didn't know she was being taped so she's putting it all out there. :lol

Awesome. I was wondering when they were going to announce the release date. They talked about it a lot at their Asheville show back in June, and played a lot of new tunes.. The tunes were more country than Rock, but great stuff.

friend of mine who has herd some roughs from this said it's overly mellow and slow... hopefully those are just very EARLY roughs mellow.gif

The majority of the new tunes they played in Asheville were pretty mellow and slow, very country.. Not necessarily a bad thing, but I also want the rocking tunes. I'm sure they'll deliver.

I've been playing their last two albums a fair bit recently after not going near them for some time. Very enjoyable even amid the MMJ comparisons and solace is right, they always have gorgeous artwork.

I'm kind of becoming a huge fan, like they are becoming one of my favorite bands going right now. I always think of seeing them open up for Iron & Wine back in 06 I believe (when they were still just called Horses). Anyway, I'm really looking forward to the new release more than anything else.

I was let down (probably due to my unrealistic expectations) upon first hearing "Compliments" and "Factory", but then when I heard "Laredo", I got all goose bumpy again. Man, anyone who blatantly rips Neil Young and does it that well is a winner in my book. I love that song.

Compliments is my fave of the 3 songs so far, hoping for better w/ the record tho (or at least just to enjoy it more than the 2nd album, first was brilliant)

I love both records, but for me Cease To Begin is top notch. There is something about that record that resonates emotionally more so than just loving the sound of the first record.

i found it a bit too slow/mellow on the whole i think... but it's certainly not a bad record, it's just the first blew me away

I'm in the same boat. I've only given Infinate Arms 1 spin so far, so not sure where it will fit in, but doesn't hit me like Everything did first time I heard it

I'm not actually asking this question. I'm just quoting someone else that asked it.

Yes

Band of Horses, The National, Josh Ritter, The Hold Steady, and The New Pornographers all have leaked in the past few days
