RSTooley
So, I'm a new Wilco fan, but I'm very interested in what a Wilco 'greatest hits' album would look like. So, using the same method as the Dave Matthews Band - pick your TWO favorite songs from each of their seven (main) studio albums and lets see what kind of track list we can get. But, if you don't like this method, you can always just post your favorite Wilco songs, or any other songs you feel are worthy of their inevitable "best of" album (whether it be in five years or in 25 years - you know it will happen). TCP
I'll add in The Wilco Book (or as it should be retroactively refereed to, Wilco [The Book]) because there's some really solid stuff in there that problem gets forgotten about. RSTooley
Many people say that they hope Wilco will never release a best of, but really, there isn't anything wrong with best of's now is there? They give a good example of what the band sounds like and introduces them to music they can transition into. Plus, if a casual listener only likes a few songs, they can buy a best of that (hopefully) only has the songs they like on there (or the ones they know at least). Plus, if a casual listener only likes a few songs, they can buy a best of that (hopefully) only has the songs they like on there (or the ones they know at least). I would guess a lot of us think "best of's" are a throwback to the bad old days of the sinister marketing ploys of the recording industry, shoving more "marketable product" down the consumer's throat. Wilco has withstood that whole industry regime for so long that doing something like this would feel like a capitulation of sorts.
