Cheyenne Cinnamon and the Fantabulous Unicorn of Sugar Town Candy Fudge (Jakob Dylan Too)

Neko Case will lend her voice to the new animated series Cheyenne Cinnamon and the Fantabulous Unicorn of Sugar Town Candy Fudge which will début this Sunday, March 28th on the Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim. According to the creators, the show is about “a Strawberry Shortcake pop princess that lives in a candy wonderland just outside of Detroit. She comes into Detroit and helps solve problems of racism and teen pregnancy with the power of love and teen pop songs.” Neko will perform as the show’s star, Cheyenne Cinnamon.

Case also will appear with Jakob Dylan, who has put together a new band for his next tour. Jakob Dylan and Three Legs, will feature Case and Kelly Hogan and focus on Dylan’s latest album, Woman and Country. The album was recorded in Los Angeles with Academy Ward winning producer T-Bone Burnett, who produced the Wallflowers’ 1996 breakthrough release Bringing Down the Horse. Jakob Dylan and Three Legs will also on both The Late Show with David Letterman on April 21 and The Tonight Show With Jay Leno on May 13.

A number of T-Bone Burnett’s usual collaborators back Dylan throughout Woman and Country, including Dennis Crouch (bass), Jay Bellerose (drums), David Mansfield (fiddle & mandolin), Marc Ribot (guitar), Keefus Ciancia (keyboards), Greg Leisz (pedal steel), Darrell Leonard (trumpet), Ira Nepus (trombone) and George Bohanon (horns).

Another T-Bone Burnett production. . . (although he did work with Jakob before).

Jakob is making the rounds of producers I guess. Last time out was Rick Rubin as I recall....next time...Joe Henry?? Trying to save his career.... :lol

I have to say - no way. (For me, anyhow.)

Since I am being somewhat negative, why is she wasting time on one of those weirdo cartoon shows?

She should get on The Marty Stuart Show instead.

Well his last album was better than his previous couple Wallflower albums....I think we can all agree about that.

Meanwhile Neko is an artist on her way up (Middle Cyclone is quite a good album even compared to Fox Confessor) whereas Jakob is more or less treading water. But hey, he has a famous dad; if he were anyone else he might not even have a record contract at this point.

Hell I would rather just see Kelly...

Ha, I thought the same thing! They are coming to Milwaukee, but Stacy and I are going to pass--just not interested enough in Jakob. Plus, Neko will be back with the New Pornos in May, and we'll catch that for sure. (Speaking of unexciting pairings, did you see Sharon Jones join Michael Buble for one song on SNL? I was thrilled to see Sharon, but not so thrilled to see the company she keeps...)

I saw this thread yesterday and thought that I should give Neko more than a passing listen -- enjoying the hell out of Blacklisted as I type this.

Get these:

1997 The Virginian

2000 Furnace Room Lullaby

2001 Canadian Amp (EP)

  • 9 months later...

Jakob is a NZ-based post-rock band a la Mogwai, and Jack Frost was the collaboration between Grant McClennan and Steve Kilbey, so it's half-possible.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding your comment, but I think High Heat's comment was that maybe Jack Frost (the name Bob Dylan used when he produced Love and Theft, Modern Times, and other of his own albums) would produce Jakob Dylan's next album ...

I knew what you meant, even though I didn't know what you were talking about. :thumbup

I had no idea what he meant nor did I know what he was talking about.

But I do now on both counts.

And, back on topic, even though I am not going to bid on her car I am looking forward to seeing Neko in Boston in a few weeks.
