Magnetized
anyone else having trouble getting the solo track to stream? really want to hear this version! Yes, I can't play it either. It was playing fine a day or so ago--in fact was on a continuous loop, and I liked it so much I kept listening to it over and over. Hopefully it's just a temporary problem, because he really sings it beautifully and it was a really great earworm!

wilcoclub
I'm having trouble too, but my computer has been super extra slow lately sorry but the hosting limited the player to 2500 times every month. now doesn't work due the great quantity of people listened the song. Will be ready again very soon.... Now you can watch the promo video of this record : http://wilcoclub.com/jeff-tweedy-con-mavis-staples/

Magnetized
Yes! What a sweet connection there seems to be between those two. I love the way he looks at her and listens. And not just the two of them--on Spencer's blog he has a few entries where he just can't say enough wonderful things about Mavis. I believe he says he's her honorary grandson! The whole thing is just very heartwarming and I can't wait to see this played out on stage.
choo-choo-charlie
I'm absolutely ecstatic about this release.
MattZ
I've only heard You're Not Alone once (live), but I think it's got an outside chance of being the best thing Jeff's ever written. Not saying it's definite. But it's possible. I know that some people aren't big fans of Wilco (the Song), so at the risk of destroying my own argument, it takes the same sort of idea, and just hits it out of the park (imo). I think [or hope] this represents an exciting new chapter of music-making for Tweedy that trickles through into Wilco.
Guest Speed Racer
Great song. The first time I heard it I didn't think I liked it all that much - either his version or Mavis's, but it really did grow on me. Had it in my head the whole next day. Not a huge fan of all of the lyrics - some of the lines are clunkers to me - but it's a good tune.

But "open up this is a raid" is just so great.
Guest Speed Racer
But "open up this is a raid" is just so great. Agreed - both music and lyric shine in that line. Funny how just five seconds of a song can not only save it but make an evening.
lost highway
Yeah, I've kind of had a rough go of things on a personal level this summer. I definitely have gotten a lot of comfort out of this song, and have given the Mavis version over at pitchfork a spin almost every day. Some days more than once.
