lamradio
Maybe the heating system makes too much noise and they need to turn the heat down when they record. But that could just be the old soundman in me. I was thinking the same thing.. Those condenser mics will pick up literally everything.

Silencers in the heating system would help that, though. Nothing worse than hearing the HVAC system (well maybe talkers), while one is trying to listen to music, yet alone recording music. Guest Speed Racer
That, and I highly doubt a giant warehouse like that is remotely weather-proof. Their heating bills must be insane just to keep it around 60. I say calvino goes in there and weather-proofs it, at the very least.
caliber66
I hope that Pat doesn't read that I think his beard looks like Bob Weir's. His feelings might be hurt.

Nothing worse than hearing the HVAC system (well maybe talkers), while one is trying to listen to music, yet alone recording music. Don't want to turn this into a recording geek out thread, but I have a "home studio". When we record we have a long list of stuff to turn off before we hit the record button. A/C, fridge, and even the TV on the other side of the house. A good condenser mic is very powerful. There have been many ruined takes at my house because of a random kid scream or a dog bark... Moss
It's clear to me they don't have nearly enough amplifiers to make a decent album.
u2roolz
John looks exactly the same as he did on the Anodyne tour. Also, it's a little highschoolish to make fun of somebody's appearance. Hmm. Then I guess I should keep my John looks like Jim Perdue comments to myself.... Although, the cold temperatures at the Loft could very well explain how he got into the frozen chicken business. http://farm1.static.flickr.com/31/49123147_50b84097f9.jpg
jff
There have been many ruined takes at my house because of a random kid scream or a dog bark... The next Wilco album could probaly benefit from a few random kid screams and dog barks.
lamradio
The next Wilco album could probaly benefit from a few random kid screams and dog barks. hahaha yeah... Bring us back to the days of the noises on YHF, or the drone on AGIB. A track of nothing but kids screaming while a dog barks.
RaspberryJam
I live with kids' screams and dogs barking. No need to shell out hard earned $$$ for that.
rockinrob
heating causes humidity issues with acoustic guitars, and guitars in general are affected. Changes in humidity almost always change setups on guitars, and guitars stay in tune better in reasonably cold temps.
Wilco Worshipper
The one I can't get over is Mikael. That beard is working for him.It SOOO does!
Sweet Papa Crimbo
So you never make fun of people you like in good spirit? That's a damned shame. No...I am usually the one being made fun of.
anthony
It's clear to me they don't have nearly enough amplifiers to make a decent album. Yes, or vintage guitars. I haven't seen that "buck" SJ-200 with double pick-guard before.

Robby
Does anyone know the brand/model of headphones they are using? If so, any opinions on the product? They all appear to be the same type in each picture.
Scott Gyrrr
Possibly AKG K240 headphones. I think they come in two impedances, one for studio use and one aimed at djs. I had a pair 7-8 years ago. They didn't last a year. Build quality was not so good to say the least but I could have just had a bad one. Audio technica athm50s are pretty greaty for the same money. dark
Obviously from the Feng Shui of the room this new album will thrill some, and alleniate others. If they would just turn the couch slightly to the west it would be a perfect album.
