How was the show?

Mavis was exactly what you would expect: rousing, boisterous and a lot of fun.

Bob played way too many Sinatra covers. Sounded workmanlike, but not terribly thrilling. Great band that just sounded... like they should. Meh.

Jay Farrar tonight in Atlanta.  He's two guys with him playing random stringed instruments.  One is a pedal steel!

Jay was excellent.  Once you see him a few times, you begin to understand that he's just a quiet dude immersed in the performance.  I find him to be one of the few artists that can hold my attention playing solo for an entire show (another being Neil Young).  He played all of Trace with great care, not just running through the tunes.  Played some nice rarities (no UT) and a great totally re-imagined Rainy Day Women.  Venue was great.  Easy parking etc.  If you're in Atlanta, definitely check out the City Winery.

Gabriel sting was great! Sets are intertwined so if was neat. They both sing some of each other's songs and do backup for each other. Do yourself a favor and look at a set list first to get an idea for the show. I bought the cheapest seat in the house and thought I got my money's worth!

I was there.  I enjoyed hearing the Trace songs but I really loved Highway 61 and Methamphetamine. Dylan cover was cool, too. City Winery was a neat venue. I'm glad they finally got their issues worked out so they could open.

Yes, Highway 61 and Methamphetamine were great.  As was Barstow.  Hell, I love all the 'band' songs in the acoustic setting.  It just shows how strong the songs are.  Not many artists can do that.  The venue was great.  I had someone escort me to my seat! I did not drink wine though.  Also, couldn't help thinking some folks were there having dinner and didn't know a concert was scheduled.  :)

I saw Chris Cornell at the cap theater last night. Really, really good. A few too many covers, but otherwise I was pleasantly surprised.

That guy does have some pipes.

I bought my ticket from Stub Hub a few days ago. First time I've ever used Stub Hub and am a little anxious about being able to get in!

Ha! We did eat dinner there before the show. It was ok, a little over priced in my opinion. I'm not a big wine person but I did have one glass just because I felt I should. Anyway, I thought it was a good crowd. Pretty respectful and appreciative.

Chris Cornell

Did he do River of Deceit? I've read where he's been covering it in his shows. I love the original but I think Chris does a great cover.

No, I paid double that, and it was a block of 5 or 6 tickets, of which I bought one. ;). Doesn't matter now. I will be six seats away from your friend. Thanks for the reassurance about gettng in. :)

Swans tmrw.

it's been kinda slow for me but i did see 5 shows over 9 days recently.

I thought you've been seeing a bunch of shows from you FB page. Were you at a festival in Iceland? Or were those old photos?

i also heard that i'm very likely to be approved for the Paul McCartney show at Fenway... i shot him there before, but am happy to have another go at it, as i didn't bring a step stool and was not super psyched w/ my shots.

Hey, get a pass for Phish on Friday. That would be a change for you I bet.
