PopTodd
For me (and a lot of folks, I think) it just doesn't really hold up well. However, there are one or two exceptions. The number one, for me is:THE BONZO DOG BAND. I can listen to these guys just about every day. And this song, in particular, makes me laugh every single time. And I've heard it hundreds of times. Still chuckle -- audibly -- every single time!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OuklqJD3v0c Also, they have a song called "Death Cab For Cutie" which is, of course where that band gets their name. (I was disappointed to find that Death Cab were so serious.) Other than the Bonzos, though, and a few Frank Zappa tunes, I cannot think of many other bands whose comedic tunes stand up to repeated listens. At least not in the same way. You? Mr. Heartbreak
Other than the Bonzos, though, and a few Frank Zappa tunes, I cannot think of many other bands whose comedic tunes stand up to repeated listens. At least not in the same way. You? Only a few Zappa songs? What about all the others? As you can tell from my avatar, I'm a huge FZ fanatic, so I have pretty much every studio release, plus a lot of unreleased live material as well. Much of it is funny, although at this point I really listen for the music itself (certain things, such as Honey, Don't You Want A Man Like Me? get tedious upon repeated listening). But for great music with humor in it, for my money, nobody beats Uncle Frank. There are plenty of other bits of comedy in my collection, though. They Might Be Giants and Camper Van Beethoven both have some funny stuff, and there are quite a few comedians and comedic actors who have recorded music, like Adam Sandler and Gilda Radner. In fact, there's a whole compilation of Monty Python songs out there that has material from movies and albums alike (Every Sperm Is Sacred, The Lumberjack Song, etc). Firesign Theatre did some funny musical bits as well.

Shakespeare In The Alley
Nothing better than music that doesn't take itself too seriously. Big part of why the Super Furries are my definite favorite band, and the Beastie Boys are another favorite.

Plumplechook
Flight of the Conchords Musical comedy is one of those things that wears out its welcome pretty soon. But I do still enjoy a lot of the Flight of the Conchords stuff - mainly I think because they combine their humour with some genuine muscial chops.

calvino
Yes he did. Too bad no one knows who he is anymore. LouieB Yeah, it was 1984 on XRT' Flashback this morning and of course they mentioned Goodman's passing. The wife, kid, and I spent a good part of this morning watching some clips of his performances on the computer. He was a hell of a guitarist, too - my wife mentioned his smile. Good stuff. Scott Gyrrr
Bob Dylan's 115th dream is pretty fun humorous. I went into a restaurantLookin’ for the cookI told them I was the editorOf a famous etiquette bookThe waitress he was handsomeHe wore a powder blue capeI ordered some suzette, I said“Could you please make that crepe”Just then the whole kitchen explodedFrom boilin’ fatFood was flying everywhereAnd I left without my hat
