IRememberDBoon
Just curious? I heard that "Smashing a perfectly good guitar" song and somehow I was picturing Nels busting a geetar to pieces but then I thought............No. That's not really their style, but maybe back in the day? choo-choo-charlie
Bob Egan may have nicked his guitar when he fell off the stage at this show. Right around the 3:05 mark.

choo-choo-charlie
It's really interesting to listen to the shows from throughout the Being There tour. You can hear the fire and energy in the 1996 and early 1997 shows, but as 1997 goes on, you can hear the fatigue in the playing and in Jeff's voice. And to think he was holed up in his hotel room, writing the subdued, melancholy and beautiful Summerteeth and then going out and playing wild rock shows. This is another good one from 1996, with some prime footage of the band being interviewed and goofing off. http://youtu.be/JJSM9yfrW_0

ih8music
Having watched Nels's rig rundown a few dozen times, I'd be personally offended if he smashed any of those beauts.
Hixter
NELS: “We played a gig at The Smell, the Singers a double bill with [Carla Bozulich] and Andrea Parkins as a guest. Prior to that night, I had had my wham pedal fixed and I was trying do ‘Blood Drawing’ from [instrumentals] and it was at this crucial moment where things have to kick in in exactly the right way and the pedal broke and I had no sound. I completely lost my shit and threw my guitar on top of my amp and then drop-kicked it about five feet into the wall. Fenders are pretty indestructible, but I broke four strings. Of course, I was instantly mortified, so I turned to Devin and Scott and said, ‘Duet!’ and they went right into a Thelonious Monk tune while I changed my strings in shame.”From here: http://www.downbeast.com/2010/04/the_nels_cline_singers_an_oral_1.shtml
